EX 35 Race Mode.

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

So we (some of us at least) are true car enthusiasts

That being said....

When you're going to romp our car threw a canyon or take it to the track or just blast it threw a quiet B. Road what kind of set up do you put your EX in... I'll give you an example for you all to build on

• VDC Off ( 8 second hold of the button)• 3/4 Tank of 100 octane race gas (Trust me it makes a difference especially with my +2 mod) • A/C completely turned off• Clean K&N Air Filters• Spare tire, Sub Woofers, jack and trunk floor taken out• Fold the rear seats down to lower the center of gravity• Tires at about 40psi cold• Take all the floor mats out• Take all the CD's Manuals and junk out of the glove box and center console• I Drained all my power steering fluid and filled the reservoir with this thick lucus stuff that really made my steering MUCH more heavy with MUCH more feel.•Make sure my radar detector is on full blast!

Any other ideas?

It allows your Feet to be close to the Floor, thus lowering the Center of Gravity.

Why don't you take it to the next level. Drive a real race prepared car on a track with race rubber, brakes, and suspension. From that point on street cars are boring from a performance standpoint. Be careful though the real thing is highly addictive and can empty out your bank account.

Make sure you relieve yourself and take a dump before you drive, that can drop a few pounds as well!

you would have more fun finding a used LS big block and a gutted car on the track than doing what you've done....

but if you're really serious about this....

get adjustable suspension/shocks/coilovers, w/e sticky tires you have now, get track compound tires, keep it on the track.....(honestly i dont care what backroad you drive on, its illegal and dangerous)better brakes, get stainless steel lines, remove your moon roof and have it re sheeted with lightweight magnesium, take out all the trim pieces, might as well remove the rear seats, passenger seat, all the extra engine pieces in the front, remove the grill, get TE-37's, go with meth injection, wrap everything in heat dissipating wraps,

but hey, that's only if you were a "TRUE car enthusiast"

you seem young, look, sorry for poking fun at you, but you drive a CUV. The fact that you track your CUV, is cool if... that's all the funds you currently have for.....but it's a CUV..and a heavy one at that.

now if you're talking about a nice lil weekend canyon run, touring around and relaxing, well then i can understand a bit better, tho again, you would probably be better off buying a used miata, gutting it and playing around with that...

anyway, if it's just for a nice spirited drive, I would lower suspension/coilover/shocks, get a BBK + SS lines, and invest in some VERY VERY nice high performance run flats so you can leave the spare at home, and attach them to 17" TE-37s..., the K&N filter is not a performance mod moreso than a convenience, but with ur +2 mod, this combo should prove to be quite spirited.

btw, 100+ octane fuel w/+2...arent you just asking for knocking?

and FYI, lowering your seats doesn't give you a better balance, unless you weight 0 lbs, what it DOES do is give you better visibility.

3/4 tank = fail, sorry, too heavy, keep it under 1/4, leave the extra fuel for somewhere you will pass later on

also probably should use 10w30 (are we 5w or 10w?)

the only valid points i will agree withVDC offTire pressure ~ but you should be checking this out with every weather change and about 1-2 weeks anywayA/C off

other than that, go take a big dump and take off all your clothes you might gain .01 WHP

me<----

- I always keep half full of tank.

- I remove the spare tires.

- I put a 17.5 pounds rims (each @ 17")

- VDC OFF

- I just lost 11 Ibs. from 170 to 169Ibs.

- I finally accepted that my EX35 AWD is just as slow as a 2002 Camry V6 off the line... but faster than stock Civic Si

Just a quick note: Removing the spare tires tends to oversteer on hard

turn on wet road with vdc off.

• VDC Off ( 8 second hold of the button)Whats the difference between pressing and holding of the VDC button?

• 3/4 Tank of 100 octane race gas (Trust me it makes a difference especially with my +2 mod) Do they still sell the high octane racing gas around?

• A/C completely turned offI do this as well when I need better acceleration.

• Clean K&N Air FiltersInstalled already but i dont feel any gains in power but air sucking sound on hard acceleration.

• Spare tire, Sub Woofers, jack and trunk floor taken outI would probably remove all my headrests as well.

• Take all the floor mats outToyota has a big recall on all floormats plus doing it could reduce weights.

• Take all the CD's Manuals and junk out of the glove box and center console

• I Drained all my power steering fluid and filled the reservoir with this thick lucus stuff that really made my steering MUCH more heavy with MUCH more feel. Not sure about this, this could make the p/s system to run different than it was designed.

•Make sure my radar detector is on full blast!

Any other ideas?

Drive safely.

LOLI knew these comments are coming.Seriously, I think tracking EX is torturing the car...It is a luxury CUV that is comfy to drive around and plenty of power.

I do some canyon run as I mentioned in the other post but that’s just having some fun with what I have.

I can’t say I am a true car enthusiast, but just a little about my daily/track MR286 MR2 with completely rebuilt “stock” motor, ss brake lines, all poly bushings, KYB shocks, Eibach springs, Brembo rotors, hawk pads, removed some junk for lighter weight but still keep a/c and radio for daily driving. A cheap set of 15” sportmax wheels but sticky tires. No crazy body kits except factory front air dam and spoiler. No ABS, no power steering, only pure driving skills.

While I had my MR2, I also had my WRX. Mod to around 360hp and done so many stuff to it but ended up with endless problems. I am getting too old to drive a rice rocket around that’s why I sold both cars and got the EX.

And no, I am not a true car enthusiast yetMy next project will be a S30 Fairlady with a VQ35, and then I will become a true car enthusiast.

Now that is an interesting mod list. I'm not knocking your enthusiasm in the least, to each their own. Personally the may 0.2/sec x 1/4 mile you may get from the reduction of maybe 200 lbs of overall weight is going to cost you more of the refinement the EX offers than the potential benefits of cutting weight in such measures.

I would say put the floor mats back and take out the engine covers. There is a few pieces of dead weight....or vibration isolators on the exhaust that should amount to about 20 lbs. The engine shields could go without costing any interior look or feel.

Switching the power steering fluid for a more viscous fluid is not a good idea. The vaines of the power steering pump and internal valving of the power steering rack are not designed for a thicker fluid. The increased steering effort is a byproduct of the fluid not being correct and the pump working harder than it should.
