I just got off the phone with some idiots who I bought a wheel from. Here's what happened: I bought a wheel for $180 and they double shipped my order. I received two wheels. They were delivered while I was gone and they were rained on for a week. I got home and got them realized there were two so called and they said a return label was in the box. I told them the boxes were ruined and so was the label. They faxed me another label. I paid $15 to repack the wheel and taped the new label on and dropped it off at the UPS drop-off center.

Fastforward 2.5 months:

I get this call from this guy who accuses me of stealing a wheel. After he calmed down I asked him for some details. He told me I never shipped the wheel back. I let him know what happened and he said they never received it back and demanded I pay for it. I was irritated at this point and told him I sent it back and graciously repacked it for him at my own expense. He asked me to prove that I sent it by faxing him a copy of my UPS pickup manifest. I don't use UPS and told him what I did. He told me he would sue me. I encouraged him to do so.

He now keeps calling me and keeps making threats. What do you do with arrogant douche bags like this? I could have just kept the wheel and denied ever receiving it, hell I even sell wheels for a living and could have made some good money, - but no, I went out of my way to do the honest thing and this is what I get. To quote Judge Judy: "no good deed ever goes unpunished".

They faxed the label and I taped it on and shipped it. I have no record of anything.

I'm a wheel seller on the internet. I don't use UPS, I use FedEx Ground. When I get return labels for UPS I use the local drop-off center.

UPS HAS A RECORD OF ALL TRANSACTIONS, SHIPMENTS, AND DRIVER RECORDS.

JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE A RECORD, DOESN'T MEAN THAT UPS DOES NOT HAVE ONE.

DO YOU THINK CORPORATIONS JUST THROW AWAY ALL THEIR RECORDS AFTER A TRANSACTION IS DONE?

just because YOU don't use UPS, doesn't mean that they won't keep a record of the shipment.

UPS keeps records of ALL shipments

just because you don't use them or have an account with them, doesn't mean that they don't have a record of the shipment
UPS has records of ALL shipments

contact UPS customer service, give them the destination address, date of shipment, and your name: they can create an investigation and give you the exact details of what happened with the package

UPS has records of ALL shipments

give the details from UPS customer service to both the police and the person that is harassing you (or through the police liaison)

UPS has records of ALL shipments

Tell him to stop bothering you and maybe take out a restraining order if you want. It's not that hard (GF had to do it with a an ex). If he keeps bothering you, you can press charges. If he sues you over a $160 wheel, then this guy really has nothing better to do.

If they sent you the label, they should have that info. So even if you don't have a copy of these tracking numbers, the original company should have the info. So next time they call you should ask them to contact ups with their tracking number; or if you feel really generous, you could ask them for the tracking number on the label they sent you, then contact ups yourself. Annoying, yes; problematic, no.
Monkeys.
