Now by fifth motor you mean rebuild or entire motor? as in buy the block and build it to match that.
Since this is on the subject of your evo, i'm going to keep talking about it....As far as the motor, is it the same as the 4g63 that is in, say, a 96' GSX? I mean i know they are both called the 4g63 but is it the same block and pretty much you could use one of those in replacement.... or use the block.

Its actually been so long I forgot what was done on each build. I know the first one was everything.... rods, pistons, built head (valvetrain included) HG, new headstuds, transmission rebuilt, new clutch. 2nd (timing jumped on first turn over of new motor and sent the valves into the pistons)....new pistons/ valvetrain. then the turbo went and dry sumped. So that was a whole new bottom end and I did the valvetrain again. Had the motor rebuilt when I was in Iraq. Got home, first night on the dyno (395whp stock turbo, first pull of 110octane), the timing belt tensioner came loose and again sent the valves into the pistons. My sponsor rebuilt that motor, that last 7mos when at an auto-x I threw a rod bearing because the g's I was pulling caused the oil to flood over and the pick up went dry and destroyed the bearings. So ya 5 brand new bottom ends. I BUILT the motor once and kept rebuilding it everytime it broke. After the 4th motor is when the front wheel bearings and transfer case went.
The 92-99 DSM (eclipse, talon, laser) came with teh 4g63 in the turbo option, the non turbo's were 420a and 4g64 (non turbo's in the convertibles). In 97 I believe the motor went from a 6bolt flywheel to 7bolt. 7bolts are the ones that crankwalk. That problem was resolved in 98. Evo's I BELIEVE are a 7bolt, they are the same motor except the Evo is mounted the opposite direction of the DSM's and the Evo came with a forged bottom end, larger turbo and better valvetrain. Because the Evo motor is mounted the opposite way, nothing works.....not cams, not turbo setups, intakes, not anything!
