Met an EVO 8 tonight and couldn't resist. Modified exhuast system obviously, not sure if he was running stock boost but he was fast. I was running 13psi and I slowly crept away. I turned up the boost just for testing tonight as I go and gas up, decided to hit the highway and met the guy. I usually run 7 psi by the way.

If that was stock boost say around 7 psi, man those cars got balls off the assembly line. Oh, the temp around here is below 30 degrees and haven't snowed yet this year. Roads were perfectly dry which was nice. It was a great run, his friend was in a civic and he was blown like 100 cars away. Just thought I'd share.

I thought I read somewhere that the EVO gets it power from running a high boost from the factory, I think I remember hearing something like 15psi. Don't quote me on it though, I probably got it from some ricer magazine.

Everything I've ever read has been in the 19psi range.

Well, it depends on RPM of course.

"According to Mitsubishi, the twin scroll turbo is making 19 psi of boost pressure at wide-open throttle at 3500 rpm and 16.2 psi of boost at WOT at 6500 rpm. We're also told the car will have both manual and automatic controls for the two-nozzle water cooling system for the intercooler."

Good Kill!!!!

When I had my SR'ed S13 I usually ran 12 psi normal driving and 14 psi racing and was always looking for a near stock EVO 8 to "educate" (at least from a roll)

This is correct. I used to work at a Mitsu dealer and I was privy to the tech's manuals and this is exactly what it said. They have done away with the intercooler sprayer for '05 though, according to Skillman's here in Indy evidently due to breakage/unreliability.

I drove a stock EVO a couple of weeks ago. Impressive! I'd rock it.

To tell you guys the truth, I was a bit nervous. EVO's always give me a chill, anyway, luckily it wasn't from a stop light hahaha.

Thanks for the good information guys, 16.5-19 psi, damn, that's scary in my book.

think about this.

The Toyota 22RTE, found only in the pickups and 4runners, is capable of handling 19 pounds stock god I need one of those trucks...

Am I the only one that thinks boosting 19psi at 2000rpm in 1st gear would be BIG fun! Something would *have* to blow up, which is always cool. Well, if it wasn't my car.

Great kill. They are potent cars. My dude had a 3037 on his and now has gone with a 35r setup. Stupid fast. I like the looks of the STI better but EVO's are impressive to say the least.

EVO engines must be the best engines to come out of Mit. I've never heard of a factory turbo engine boosting 19psi before. I've been on the receiving end of that power too. An EVO smoked me from a light totally unprovoked. Now I have to add it to the list of cars I want my 240 to outrun.

From a stop light huh... you had it bad, I would of been totally out run if that was my case also, I can not make any use of my Yokohama's in first and second gear when it's cold outsdie. Wheels would just spin like they are on ice as soon as you get to about 4k rpm and up. We were doing about 50 mph raced till 110 on a empty section of a 4 lane highway. I'm sure the driver of that EVO was surprised. I know I was.
