I'm actually having chest pain from laughing so hard! :rotfl

Oh the irony. I think I am pretty much just going to watch the Daily Show for my news. Jon consistently brings truth to issues. The fact that both the left and the right at one time or another were pissed off at him says he's doing something right. :dblthumb:

You know I was wondering the other day why I don't watch the news more. Thank you for reminding me...

can you point out one source that is willing to criticise Fox?
and no, MSNBC doesnt count because they are too far left to be credible.

But... but... MSNBC and Fox News are a perfect representation of our American political system! No middle ground! Right?

I dont have a problem with comedians like Saturday Night Live, the Daily Show or even David Letterman criticizing, the problem I have with the Daily Show is it's representation as a news outlet. I would also encourage you to point out where in this thread I have defended Fox News.

Because it's a satire of the news industry, Cold. Are you similarly critical of Saturday Night Live's news desk bit?

I didnt say anything about you defending FoxNews. Im just saying we have really two sides in news. The Conservative Side, and the Liberal side. TDS may be preceeded by a show about crank calls, but ill be damned if it doesnt do better reporting than those morons at both MSNBC and Fox. You would be mistaken to write them off because ultimately, Jon Stewart cares more about US politics than anyone at either fox or MSNBC. lets not forget the infamous visit to crossfire in which he ripped them apart...

if TDS is merely entertainment, then what do you call CNN/MSNBC/Fox?

Critical in that it is just entertainment? Yes. No where did I imply that John Stewart was wrong or wrong to say, what he did. Just trying to keep things in perspective.

Also,
T- It is merely entertainment, just as talk radio is mere entertainment. Hell, even Glenn Beck starts his show with “The fusion between entertainment and enlightenment.” Where did this country go wrong that they think that Stewart, Savage and Letterman are all reporting news? Again, no where did I point out that CNN/FOX/MSNBC were the epitome of journalistic excellence. I believe it was YOU that brought Fox News into the discussion.
And the fact that a show like The Daily Show does a better job in reporting things than the cable news outlets is a testimony to the sad state of affairs in this country.
No offense to anyone but Cable News is just trash. They try to stir things up so that they can dwell on it and boost their ratings.

edit* except that I only look to Jon (just like I look to NPR) to make sense of the crazy bullsh*t the news outlets try to push on us, not the crazy bullsh*t itself.

^ +1.

WNYC's "On the Media" is quickly becoming my favorite podcast. It's like a slightly more serious, slightly less Jewishy Jon Stewart. I highly recommend it. For example, they've recently been very critical of the coverage of the "Ground Zero Mosque," saying that the Media isn't doing its damned job (again) to accurately represent the facts of the matter (namely that it's not at Ground Zero and it's not a Mosque).

I think comedy is the best source of news. They let you know how stupid something really is and don't defend either side. They don't care if they offend people. I love comedians that say stuff that is questionable, because it's normally true. People get too uptight about things. Our news in this country is a joke. I prefer to get mine from online sources like this site. Another thing that I think is funny is how much everyone hates Obama. Last time I check, more than half the people voted for him. I didn't vote...don't blame me :)

Ok.
Just found out that Al-Waleed bin Talal owns Rotana. I love listening (online) to their radio station. I guess since 9% is owned by News Corp, I just stop listening to this evil radio station.

NewsCorp owns the air, man. That means, like, we're gonna have to stop breathing and stuff, or else we'll, like, get the evil inside us. That'd be a total bummer.
