.......as some of you know, there was alot of skepticism (myself included) about the intake for our cars. after much debate and research,i decided to perform keninAZ's mod and take a chance and hack away the airbox and stick a cone filter at the end.

unfortunately i didnt get the results i was looking for; quite the opposite actually as my car struggled to get up to speed sometimes (especially when i floored it)

after days of trying to figure out what i did wrong, it dawned on me that the problem was that i had made my car a true dual and ignored some of the comments made by fellow memebers to not do that. some of you remember that i had elimenated the factory X-pipe a month earlier.

well, i decided to put the X-pipe back on; but this time, i opted for a MAGNAFLOW 2 1/2" X-pipe and increased the pipe size from the cats to the factory mufflers from 1" 7/8 to 2 1/2" all the way back and removed the resonators.

the result: the car actually hauls a$$ now! and the more i drive it, the more it pulls harder and harder.i know most of you are just shaking your heads in disbelief, but i just wanted to post that everything is ok and that in response to my previous thread "CAI disaster", i'd like to name this thread "CAI success". thank you guys for your time.if any of you want pics of what i did, feel free to ask.

Very cool! Glad to hear that everything worked out. Now we just need an airbox to get rid of the heat soak problem. My preliminary heat shield is working well but a fully enclosed airbox that connects to the factory over-radiator ducting is all that is left to do.

I plan on making fiberglass molds of mine when I'm finished so that I can reproduce them if anyone would be interested.

Keep an eye out
