Well i got my new fuel system in the other day at it ran great the weather kept me from taking my car out. today was a great day and i had off work. i start up my car and it sounds and is idling like crap along with smoking pretty bad. look around the bottom of the turbo and manifold is all wet from. theres alot of shaft play and one of the comressor fins has a nice nick others were slightly damaged.

so what am i looking at for a rebuild of a garret t04b from my nsport kit or for a whole new one? ill be making calls tomorrow but why not get an idea now.

if the blades touched the housing, you'll likely be replacing most of the turbo parts. If it were me, I'd probably just look into replacing the whole thing. Maybe even with something a bit more efficient at higher boost levels, considering your fuel system should be able to handle quite a bit of boost.

if the compressor fins are damaged you will need to replace that wheel...most basic rebuild kits just come with the "internals" such as the seals, bearings, and such. why did your turbo blow? how are the supply/drain lines?

well when i first put the kit on the feed line wasnt on quite right so it didnt get an oil for about 2min and i even reved it to maybe 3k at idle until the oil light flashed and i shut off the car to see 4 quarts of synthetic oil ont he ground. its been 3-4kmi since then. past month or so jsut a little oil has been squirting out the exhuast so i figured the seals were going. i thought i tested for shaft play but didnt really try to wiggle it hard enough. my return line should be jsut fine. well i did pour in some extra oil the other day after i tuned off the car so maybe it backed up. thats what i was thinkin today cuz that was the only thing i changed

so im looking at jsut gettin a new turbo? i think ill go with the same thing so everything will bolt up and i dont plan on goin past 17psi
