I was at 3400 rpms going 80mph before I broke the car down for the build. Now that I have the Z32 trans in there I should be at 3000rpms at 80mph, longer 5th FTW.

But, even at that speed I could get 400+ mpt on the interstate. Around town I saw about 325-350mpt, depending on how I drove.

If I am on boost a lot then I got around 250-275 on a tank. When I drove around off boost I could get 300-330 on a tank. I think it depends how much you stay in boost. You will get a lot less mileage running around 10-12 pounds everywhere you go.

first, thank you mod for moving my thread. second, i didnt know you could put a z32 transmission on an sr. Do you have to change the drive shaft or anything or does it bolt right up. And lastly I could drive without hitting boost for a full tank and still not get the gas milage you guys are getting. Last tank of gas lasted me about 220 miles the only time on boost was at about 2-5 psi because of just the accelerating to switch gears. Why the hell didn't they make it a 6 gear transmission on the sr if it screams on the highway at 3 grand at 60mph.

you could search but I am bored so will answer. A z32 transmission will match up but requires a plate and different drive shaft (custom made). They did make a 6 speed transmission on the s15 silvia. None of these engines were made for the USA -- that is why JDM silvias have no cruise and other options that are more market specific. I average around 25 mpg overall and drove my car typically like I stole it -- My car now have greddy cams, 740cc injectors, a GT2871R and an apexi power fc. My tuner says I should still get around 25 mpg and my car will have around 350 whp.. I am thinking more like 18 mpg but we will see.

It's not a bolt on modification. You need a kit to install it to make it a bolt on mod... There's machining and custom fabbed parts, not to mention some wiring to be done.

If you want better gas mileage get a turbo 300zx rear end. I think it's a 3.68 or something like that compared to our 4.083. I would get your car tuned up and figure out why youre getting such s***ty gas mileage before I worried about changing my rear end.

The z32tt diff won't bolt in but the q45 diff will and it is about the same ratio.

i actually have the j30 diff on right now. but i know the gearing on the j30 is ether the same or really close to the 240 gearing. i just found it weird that i get such crappy gas milage not pushing the car but just going from point a to b. and everything is stock on it. and while im crusing my wideband says that its in the 14.7 to 15.2 range. not lean or rich. i guess im going to have to check somethings out and see whats up. thank for all the input.
