In 1996, Infiniti added the front strut brace to all it's Q45's, and has had one ever since. The first generation, 1990 through 1996 did not have one. The car is a unibody construction. The strut towers will flex a bit in cornering, and it transfers weight to the outside wheel, causing excessive tire wear, body roll, and changes the camber of the front wheels.
While some of this can be engineered into a suspension design, it is better to have less body flex.
If you were to cut the car at the strut towers, you would see the cross member across the bottom, the strut towers across the side, and nothing across the top, to complete the "box". The FSTB ties the tops of the strut towers together, increasing the rigidity of the front suspension.
Once one is installed, the driver can feel better steering response, improved cornering, and an overall tighter feel to the front of the car.
Before one installes this mod, I would suggest replacing the struts, upper links, sway bar bushings, tension rods, and having a 4-wheel alignment done.
