He guys, I am about to purchase my beater for the winter, aka 91 Ford "Found On Road Dead" or "Fixed Or Repaired Daily" Taurus. I am buying it for $150 from a buddy of mine. This is especially good since I have to drive to college five days a week next semester, and its 30 miles away! What is everyone else driving around this winter.

I will post a pic of that pos in a couple. . .

My winter car/beater is a 92 camry. The damn thing is invincible. It still has the original clutch after 144,000. There is no slip in it at all. Didn't change the original battery intil 120,000. You can't stop the damn thing, and for anyone who has ever had a serious piece of crap you know how comforting that is.:ylsuper

Winter, eh, your 240 can handle it. This will be my third winter driving the 240 around. I don’t expect to have too much trouble this year, unless we have a huge blizzard or something. The only thing is that hills suck a$$. Anyway parking lots can be a hell of a lot of fun! :thumbup

Its supposed to snow here tomorrow. Might have to swap bumpers to the "winter spec" bumper (chopped up, old, hit bumper, haha). Plus I don't have snow tires yet either, maybe I'll pick those up today.

Sky, thats the turbo Isuzu right? Is that really your other dream car?

I really didn't want to put my s14 through all the snow and SALT this winter, plus I didn't want to rack up the miles on her since I am gonnna sell her or do the turbo upgrade next summer.

I'll still be driving the Maxima most of the time, but on really sloppy/snowy/icy days, I'll be driving a 94 Altima.

Well guys, I picked up my grocery getter tonight. I only have one good pick, and this beast won't be runnin on the streets for a few days, so rest assured. lol:ylsuper

Plans for beater: "to make fun of ricers, all in good laughs"

1. dtm exhaust2. got rice? stickers3. spray painted "carbon fiber style" hood Future plans to run the quarter mile. It has a 3.0l v6 that will beat maybe a slow a$$ civic. "if it don't break down before then" lol

Oh yeah, winter in Texas is the ****. Go around and make a snowman out of.....well.....yeah it was like 90deg. yesterday. Not really worried about winter, it just rains a lot here, just drive my civic around if the weather gets bad, the tires on my 240 are fugged right now, sux in the rain. Going to connecticut in like 2 weeks, now THAT's winter. it like they say "winter is the loveliest 7 months of the year in the tri-state."

the lotus elan m100 is front wheel drive like most of the impusles , tho i have heard of a awd impulse the elan was strictly a front drive , the only front drive car lotus ever made

GM had alot to do with it , they owned them at the time and also have controll over isuzu , they thought that a entry level car would help lotus out , tho some parts come fromt he corporate parts bin the chassis is its ownt hing alon g witht he active front suspesion geometry to eliminate torque steer , drives like its rear wheel drive ..very odd car ..made sense tho as lotus did alot of the handleing work for the impulse , remeber those "handleing by lotus" stickers int he quater panels ???

now that i think about ti the 90s impulse was pretty bad ***
