Ok, everyone I seem to talk to says that having the rb engine makes the car handle really ****ty. I have never ridden in anything except a ka24de powered s13. They are all about building the sr20. I personally just want a good powerful car to drag, drift and road race without having to rebuild the engine every 20k or so. My hp goal is 400-450rwhp. I cant use the ka because it its completely ****ed and it has an auto transmission so I need to convert it to 5 speed. Is the rb25, 26 so heavy that it totally ****es up the balance of the car? Is it something that can be worked out with suspension and weight balancing?

you can do anything if you really want to. I'd give you a ride if you're local. I'm almost getting the itch to take it to the montains. So far the freeway onramps have been good. Only problem that I fear is that my tires used to squeel around the corners or even peeling out. Now with the rb, it doesn't make a sound. I can feel it slide or feel it spinning but not a sound from it. I use the tire sound as a gauge of how far I can push it around the corners.

Mine drove awesome, had no issues with drivability. Both RB25 S13's I drove were awesome. It seems that most people with an SR20 say it drives like crap because they FEAR THE RB'S!!!!

With the RB25 in my S13 (Tein Flex coilovers, tanabe control arms, stock size wheels and tires) I can take corners faster than my RX-7 TII (Racingbeat springs, KYB struts, 17X7.5's with Yokohama paradas)

With the right wheels/tires on the RBS13, it should slaughter just about anything.

The only issue I saw is that my stock S13 blown struts constantly nailed the bumpstops after i dropped in the RB, but the car still handled close to the way it did with the KA under the hood.

That's what I'm thinking.

I personally don't care that much.. I'm not looking to build the perfect 50/50 race car. Anyone who does an RB swap should already know it's not going to be the same as an SR swap.. or the stock KA. It's a ****ing 6 cylinder iron block.. durr.

I swear there were alot more posts in this thread. Are they deleting stuff?

Anyway. I called mckinney and they said its just drivers preference. They also said suspension will correct most of that among other things like taking out a/c, cf hood, and battery relocation.

I took out a/c, relocated battery, added cf hood, and removed bumper support...

However I added fmic, turbo, piping, etc.

I have ground control coilovers and koni yellow's, I'll let you know how it handles in the next week when I maybe get to drive it. I might take first test drive today...I'm super nervous!!

I like SR's and CA's (I love the CA!), but RB's and I6's in general are just 10x cooler IMO. Personally, I like 4cyl turbo engines and all but sometimes they just bore me. I think 99% of that is due to the sound, just because I'm a sound whore. ;) Even if the RB26 had less power than an SR, I would still choose the rb just because it sounds so damn good! 4cyl's can sound good too, but IMO, they can never really sound as good as some i6's do.

Rb's are extremely heavy, so with a stock suspension setup, it's definitely going to throw the balance off a little bit. However, with a set of coil overs you could just corner balance the car and eliminate that issue. Of course it will probably be a good amount heavier than a similar car w/ an Sr, however that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to handle like a land yacht as some of those guys might have you believe. I say do whatever makes you happy and have fun with it!

i owned both motors on the same chassis same susp setup

i use my car for drift / autox and imo i find the RB20 alot easier to drift in not much effort needed to make the car tail happy

and i had to drop the car a little more all around with my RB more than it was with the SR

so end of story RB ownz SR

sr are still fun to drive tho but they will never sound as mean as a rb does
