The defintion of street racing (engaging in a speed contest) is "one or more vehicles over a common selected course, from the same place to the same place, for the purpose of comparing the relative speeds or power of acceleration of the vehicle or vehicles in a specified distance or time."

So technically, if someone is driving to school/ church/ work/ wherever and they have to get there before a certain time, they are racing against time, so isn't that considered street racing?

but it has to be "comparing the relative speeds or power of acceleration of the vehicle or vehicles", according to your definition. Time is not a vehicle, although I'm sure it can be called a vehicle in some abstract way. blah..just my $.02

but techinically aren't you competeing against time, and in a light way testing your cars speed and/or acceleration (for example if you drove faster than usually to get to where you need to get on time)?

no, becuase if you were at a light by yourself and you jsut desided to race yourself you wouldn't get a ticket for street racing you would get a ticket for speeding. Also its not like time is trying to get there before you, you are trying to get there before time, so there aren't 2 participants.

but if you were on the street, and you raced in a 1/4 mile just to see how long it would take (time) that would be considered street racing, even thought there is no other person, you are still competing, but just against time, and no the time isn't going to get there before you, lol, you are trying to get to the certain point before a certain amount of time.

if you were at a light by yourself, you could get a ticket for over acceleration, which in a way is close to street racing. Btw, this thread is just kinda ludacris.

It's not kinda ludicrous, it's VERY ludicrous. You would get an exhibition of acceleration ticket, and possibly speeding, wreckless driving etc.
