Lately, there has been a gang of elementary questions asked and some either go unanswered or some end up with "use the search button" response. I strongly urge you guys to go out and buy a chiltons manual that contains information for the 1987-1990 nissan sentra and nissan pulsar (the pulsar has the CA16 and CA18DE engines). This chilton maual has been my bible from day one and I still using it till this day. Leave the bandwith for more serious questions. It's pretty hard for mods and admin personnel to sift through the amount of basic maintenance questions being asked over and over and over and over again. It almost bore the hell out of me sometimes and we don't want that to happen. So please take my advice, spend the $15 or so and go buy you a manual and learn about this wonderful engine at your own pace. If I stepped on some toes and ruffled some feathers, then that means I've gotten through to some of your thick skulls .

be sure to check the sticky at the top of the page as well for FAQ and other basic info:http://www.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=89419

ALSO, in addition to a chiltons manual (or a factory service manual for a Pulsar) please download the s13 CA18DET factory service manual (IN ENGLISH!!!) from here:

it can be found under LINKS -> Service Manuals -> S13 Manualhttp://www.h-dev.co.uk/

this is the complete one with bookmarks and no missing pages! Much better than the Zeroyon version.

Being a "newb", I just wanted to say that I have found over 90% of the info I needed/wanted using the search button. And for some of the questions that I FELT were elementary and could not find an answer for, I went ahead and sent a message through AIM to a couple of the guys on here. Just take the time and read. When using the search, think about what you are typing in. If you are looking for info on something in particular, keep in mind, some people word things differently and make spelling mistakes. Try to be vague with your search and then narrow it down from there.

In any event, even being a newb here myself, the one question that erks me are the "How much HP" threads that get started. GRRRRRRRRR

oh man, ive got the chilton manual and it sucks. i would suggest the CA fsm and the 240sx fsm. i think pretty much everything can be found by cross-referencing those two.

Though the CA18/S13 FSM is more appropriate for our RWD members, some of the FWD members (such as myself, pulsar_gtr and nismoplsr) benefit from the chilton manual because it's more directed towards our vehicles. In the chilton's manual, the mechanical section is spot-on, but my book is very old and the pages are falling off everytime I reference it. Tim I think you suck .

Oh wow Jezz (make sure everyone read that properly...) that "INJECTION_MANUAL.pdf" is INCREDIBLE!!!! WTF is that from? That is hands down the best engine diagnoses tutorial I have seen for our cars. This should allow for that evil "running-too-rich-gremlin" I have come across to be gotten rid of.

And to add: My local Half-Price-Books has several Sentra/Pulsar NOS Chilton's (IIRC Chilton's...may be someone else, but for SURE has CA series in it). They are for like <$5. Mabye we could work something out? I dunno, I just can't be swamped with too too much, but I would like to help some guys out...

it's not directed at anyone inparticular. Just a friendly reminder, that's all! I personally also have the CA FSM printed off and I love it. It's my car bible, thats for sure.

hey, that tb size question was totally legit. i had no idea what size it was and ended up spending a lot of money on a silicone adapter that didnt fit. and spark plug questions are okay in some forms (damn autozone or advance can never get the right plugs on the first try). i can think of many more people who have asked dumber questions. at least you didnt ask what engine was better... that would have got you a beating, haha.

how much ink did you guys spend printing out those FSM's?!! i wouldnt DREAM of printing that monstrosity off! it would take a month and cost me 4 times the price of flying to australia and buying it!

and dee, i know i suck. ryan has taught me to accept that.

Rico05.

It's from Cardata IIRC, someone scanned it for me. Pretty good innit.
