Lets get a comprehensive list here people, from every truck and car, the years, and compression ratio, the and number of Cams. I will edit this first post and maybe get it stickied, but it will be a good list for everyone looking for parts or the whole engine.

Some were RWD and some were FWD. Also some of the nissan pickups were 4x4 KAEs.

All altimas until 2001 had the ka24de. 2002-on have 2 different engines offered. QR25DE and the VQ35DE

Before 89 nissan had another 2.4 liter engine, Z24I. It seems to have been retired when the KA24E came out.

The maxima has never had a KA, it always had whatever engine is in the Z (VG30E, VG30DE, VQ35DE).

I dont know about non-240s but the 89 has a compression ratio of 9.0:1, the 90 is 8.6:1, and 91-94 is 9.5:1. I'm not sure if the s14 KA24DE had 9.5:1 or not.

The older maximas had the L24 engine. straight six RWD. Although it was called the l24, I think it was a 2.8l. The Hardbodys also came as a 3.0. I am pretty sure it was the vg30e...but I don't know for sure.

95-99 Maximas have a VQ30DE in them also, no 2.4L Maxima's.

You're right, 98-03 frontier has a KA24DE.

The 720 trucks didnt have a KA motor. Like its been said befor the Z24I was their motor. Goofy *** things with 8 spark plugs.

My question is, will the pickup KA24E and transmission be a bolt in replacement for my 89 240sx? im looking for a cheap motor to build up on the side then swap in. Has anyone put a pickup motor in a 240sx? I like the idea that the frontier has a KA24DE is is really new, and the fact that tons of pickups out there had E's in them.

yes, you can swap motors between trucks and cars. its a pain in the *** tho. I put a 240sx KA into a 4wd truck. they are the same motors, just a little different. the truck block it actually about 3/4 of an inch longer. different area is where the bellhousing attaches to the motor. on the truck, the bolts go thru the starter and thread into the transmission, on the 240sx the bolts go thru the transmission and thread into the starter. it really is a pain in the *** to switch and I would never do it again. I hope this helps.
