who here plays or has played everquest 1? I have a 70 monk, 65 shaman and 69 mag on fennin ro I havnt played in a while tho... anybody here played everquest?

I picked up EQ platinum and reactivated my account a few weeks ago. I remember EQ being alot better than the crap that came spewing across my screen. I played for about a week and cancelled again. I bought a presell for EQ2 but i looks like garbage. WoWarcraft looks very promising tho and I've been playing City of Heroes since release and am still having a blast with it.

World of Warcraft is the best game out right now!!! I have a 22 Tauren Warrior and only sleep about 3-4 hours a night since it came out. Im kind of a loser, huh.

I had a 67 Ranja on SZ, sold it recently so I could make some money before the game died. Decided not to start a new game because I don't want to get sucked in again. Although WoW seems to be callin my name.

I played World of warcraft for beta and knowing how addicting and good that game was, I'm not touching the retail version until I'm done with my 6000 word essay.

The game is a life stealer.

i've seen alot of people mention these video games. what is so great about them..?

First off, it's an RPG, which means that you can easily become sucked into your character. It's very addictive. There aren't many game aspects that are as involving or as rewarding (and therefore as enthralling and time-consuming) as developing a character.

Second, it's really fun to play with other people online, and adds a whole new element to the game. Of course, a lot of online people are d!ck, but you can just avoid and/or kill them and you'll be fine. Adventuring with people you know just multiplies the fun in the game. (Guys hitting on me because they assume that since my character is female that means I am, too, does NOT, though... )

And finally, there seems to be something immensely appealing about the fantasy/magic/Tolkien-esque game genre that just draws people in by the thousands, literally.

Oh, yeah. And you can kill stuff. ALWAYS a plus.

so you can walk around and if someone is pissing you off, you can just kill them..? sounds alright to me. lol

Depends on the game but yeah, killing other people is much fun.

Halo's way of killing people, then talking $hit to them while you stand over their body is fun. Don't get me wrong, I love rpg's, but I have yet to be assymilated into the mmorpg group. I'll take FFX-2 over FFXI any day.
