Note the date... I mean, BRAND NEW...

I found this picture a while back while cleaning out my car. It was lodged up in the driver's sunvisor, where at least I keep my insurance stuff and registration. I do not know the man, nor is the car pictured the one I drive. A bizarre piece of 240sx General fodder I thought was worth posting.

I didn't know they came with factory polished valve covers.lol Cool pic. It's missing the heatshield and it a looks like he tried to bypass the AIV(?).

It's real easy to find out...go to the Nissan dealership and pop open the hood of a Frontier or Xterra...

Besides the fact they were DEs, also the new Xs and Frontiers don't have KAs anymore. Xs are only VQ40s now and the 4cyl option for the Frontier is QR25. No KAs in anything that I know of now from the factory.

Yes, the heat shield is missing. Just about any stock exhaust manifold is cast, so it gets looking like that real quick.

Yeah, the aiv is just open to the air... some kinda hose coming out of it. I dont know why the guy did that, becuase you can end up with exhaust in your engine compartment.

It say right there... 1990!

I bet the camera date was reset....new years day? (1/1/90) and why would he mess with the AIV and remove the heat shield on a car 1 yr old.

Heh... why would someone throw a supercharger on a brand new Z? Or buy expensive aftermarket wheels?

It doesn't matter how young or old a car is, a car enthusiast is a car enthusiast, and will pick at the damn thing for better performance.

Maybe the camera date WAS reset, but then again, New Year's Day might be one of those times when a bunch of people get together, shoot the bull, and honestly, try to show off. I can't tell you how many impromptu Christmas Day car meets and computer conventions we've had in my family. LOL.

As far as the AIV is concerned, maybe we're not looking at the finished product? Who knows.

I will say this, the picture does mean something. It means, even BACK IN THE DAY... 15 years ago, 240sx guys were getting together and sharing pictures of their mostly stock cars... a practice we here on NICO proudly continue to this day.

Valve covers were flat black new. Removing the aiv and heat shield would provide no benefit at that age. he's also replaced the battery from the stock nissan one. I may be wrong, that's just my take.
