havee any bodyy tried the oil brand royal purple? I did, I think it works and save me gas, but its only me driving it. I don't know for sure if it really works so I'm wondering if there is dyno provin it works or have anybody tried it and felt a different. I am also wondering how many qts of oil do I need to fill up my transmission n transaxle n if there is n easier way to do it

I havent tried it personally, but i was watching Horsepower TV once, and they replaced the Motor oil, transmission oil, and Rear differential oil in a 2001 Camaro SS with Royal purple and actually gained like 10hp off of a stock baseline...was pretty impressive.

Expensive stuff, but i hear it is top notch.

it is top notch, my brother used it in his supercharged mustang for a long time, checked internals and they were pretty good.(engine blew cause of bad tunning....)

I used the Turbonetics oil, all those oils are pretty good but if u want the original synthetic go with Amsoil, it maybe hard to find a distributor but they are the inventor of synthetic oil.

I worked at a shop last year and we actually sold royal purple. The coolest thing that I saw when we went to a convention, was showing a before and after test including dyno testing. On this particular application,( 99 cobra) the last oil change was 300(yes 300) miles ago. they put in royal purple motor oil and transmission fluid and picked up 7whp. friction in the valvetrain was reduced something like 270 percent. The other motor oil was also synthetic btw, but Ill keep their name out.

redline i believe is also really good, but i cant stand behind their stuff other than hearsay.

ive heard something about royal purple seperating if it sits for a while..

anyone have any idea about this.. it is a race oil not necessarily ment to be used for dd.... but this is just speculation no facts yet...

even if it did separate I would assume that agitation, i.e. running the engine, would blend the molecules of the oil back together.

WTF...separating...."I dont think so tim"

they do sell street and race oil, there is a difference, and for two....

results of independent test on royal purple products can be found at http://www.royalpurple.com

Synerlec is royal purples proprietary, lubricant technology that strengthens the oil to provide unmatched performance and protection. It also creates an ionic bond that adheres to metal parts for continuous protection, even after shutdown.

Check this site out for all the information so i dont have to keep explaining.http://www.royalpurple.com/techi/whyrpi.html

The truth is, the only real differences between street and race oil is the amount of detergents and additives in the oil itself.

what you said is 100% not true.

yes reread my post.. i said i heard that and said no facts back it up.. it was something brought up to be proven wrong no need to be a smart as.s. what if it was true and i informed him about something that could be important...i dont mind being corrected because i learn something new but dont be such an *** about it...

I have never heard anything about breakdown of royal purple oil. My old boss has an 05 mustang gt, and he switches his oil every 12000 miles, switches his filter every 3000. Hes got over 15,xxx miles on it now, and has only done two oil changes. He switched to royal purple at 3k, and just now changed his oil again.

He also used it in his diesels and older cars and never had a problem.

Sorry for being an ***, I apoligze, just you didnt really ask a question, it sounded like an open opinion.

dude thats thread is about a different car and its actually talking about differential (z32) oil. Then, that quote is not supported, you just copied & paste. I also use royal purple on my engine. Kae, 1yr & 10k mi since rebuilt and no prob. Is it the best? I dont know, I have not tried other synthetic oils. Would I notice a difference if I did? probably not.

that's why i bumped this thread; to see if there's any confirmations of this copy-n-pasted quote... geez...

i read up on the original poster's question/statement, & he's talking about the trans.

we all know synthetics>dino oil anyways...

I have used royal purple in my cars, as well as alot of my friends cars. I will vouge for it, it seems to get better gas mileage, the cars also seem to just run better in general and have better sounds.

all in all, an amazing oil and well worth the money...i live in des moines and i have only found one place that carries it.

We dynoed an rx8 with fresh dino oil in the engine, transmission, and diff and then replaced it all with royal purple's race oil and picked up like 8-10hp. As far as just the engine oil goes royal purple consistantly made like 3hp more than any other synthetic we tried.

Redline and Amsoil are right up there with the purple stuff as far as quality goes. And we run lots of redline pre-mix in our gasoline but das cuz we got dem der triangle shaped pistons!

I've used Royal Purple in my KA for years with a Nissan OEM filter and loved it, the engine has consistantly run 5-10* cooler since the changeover and has gotten slightly better gas mileage.
