haha i have nooo idea... but results were that the Kimber Silver RCA's (made of silver) gave the best imaging out of all the RCA's, the Purist Audio Design Colussus sounded nice and warm apparently but imaging wasn't as good. the Monster Cable speaker wire didn't sound quite as good as the super fat stuff, but practicality of the monster made it the best of the bunch...

this is a killer thread that explains the entire cable test he did:Cable Test

I'm sure it sounds nice and clean when you are sitting in the vehicle locked in a sealed garage with no external noises. Actually drive the car and the $$ is a waste since roadnoise injects enough crap that it would be deemed a worthless waste of money that could be spent on better equipment.

Sheesh, $1200/3M of cable and the guy has his kicks mounted on a cheap board with gray carpet in a tan interior....

For home audio I can tell you from first hand experience that there is definitely a difference in cables. For car audio... once you buy quality stuff, there really isnt much of an advantage of buying more expensive -designed for home audio- cables.

If I may be so blunt...

It is kinda like boob jobs. Too big is excessive and not funcitonal. Overly huge fake boobs get you on p0rn sites and maybe Jerry Springer. A good sized boob job will not get in the way, will look mostly natural, and stand out but not have people wondering why the hell you would want boobs with enough displacement to fill a chevy big block.

My point is this, unless you are running Mark Levinson #33 monoblock amplifiers, Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) Nautilus speakers, McIntosh tube preamps, and stuff like that at your house/apartment/condo... whatever, you do not need to spend 5,000 in speaker cables and RCAs for your noisy car.

If you want to build a high end system that requires Kimber Cable, Straightwire, Nordost cables, or anything of the like, do it at home.

I'm not sure I completely understand your analogy. Maybe you have some pictures you could include to help us see the difference you're referring to above?

(actually I agree completely with both, well done as usual Simmsled)

hahaha i love that boob job comment, and i totally agree :D firm B cups will do me just fine, any more than a handfull and it's just too much... but in terms of rca's, that dude's dad was a speaker designer, so he just had the rca's sitting around doin nothin... and that install might not look the greatest but its won him a few SQ competitions, i think he knows his stuff (posts under PEI330ci) this guy's knowledge on audio is just incredible...

Yeah, they might as well be talking politics, religion or balls/strikes. Discussing the "heard" not measured SQ is an unwinnable battle. I will agree (to some extent) the compenents can be less of a factor compared to what and how they are installed. Ever seen the bass response change when a car just barely rolls down the windows? It's a perfect example of the environment having more of an impact than (nearly) any eq, but I digress.

Glad this is your thread, because it's been official 'jacked

no it's fine, haha... i wish i had the time and money to redesign my dash/center console so that i can better fit a set of 3 way components in kicks... 240's have noo room for kicks, that's why my 4's went wayy up high, cause i was afraid that the 4's would be way too muffled up by feet/legs in the way... now all i hear are my 4's & tweets :D whatevs i might still build kicks in the future after reading what these guys have to say... i must admit the imaging in my car absolutely sucks, and with no eq to cut frequencies properly i just get a blast of everything, it's frickin loud though!! not gonna blame the imaging on my "cheap" monster micro xln 4ch rca's though :pface
