This cantilever design is set up so that for every 2 inches of tire travel the coilover compresses or extends by 1 inch. Also it would be important to note that you would need to run a stiffer spring rate on this setup in comparison to the regular setup.

Overall, I think it's an interesting concept but probably unnecessary for our cars...

Yes more picks of the rest of the setup are needed, and they should get on the forum so we can ask them directly.

Kinda hard to decipher between humor or ignorance...

I imagine the guy who built the SAE car with cantilever suspension could elaborate best.

That design has many advantages. The struts being mounted inboard allows the chassis weight to be centered more. It also takes weight directly off the lower suspension. The rod weighs less than the struts, so less unsprung weight. The suspension is also pulled away from the heat of the tires and the brakes, much more efficient and consistent. Preload, dampning, nitrogen, springs, and ride height can all be adjusted from the comfy confines of the interior. It also adds a significant chassis brace between the body, although not as necessary since the rear suspension doesn't mount directly to the towers now.I don't think I'll be tossing my Ohlins coilovers in the trash to mount one up, but it is at least a 9.9 out of 10 on the My car is cooler then yours scale.

Did you even read the description?

"The Track Cat is a proven system that offers a full range of adjustment.FEATURES-Adjustable nitrogen canister-High speed compression adjustment-Low speed compression adjustment-Rebound adjustment-Adjustable preloaded springs-Full ride height adjustment (Race or DUMPED)-Reduced unsprung weight "

I didnt know that a strut bar allowed you to adjust the ride height of the car.

i want to see this thing in action and watch and see exactly what it does in action - because that's a pretty impressive list of features on it for $950.

After looking for a while, the shocks are from the hayabusa. He probably has the spring rates swapped out though. There are fewer coils which leads me to believe these are stiffer springs installed.

I wonder if the valving has been altered to suit the spring rate as well.

Did you even read this thread?

This eliminates coilovers, via long rod that conects fat cat suspension to lower coilover perch on knuckle. Height is adjustable through the rod or on the shocks/springs themselves, I don't know which.

**looks at car** **looks at welder**

Hmm. Me wants to make one. I used to destroy the track with my electric powered revo. That thing was a beast.

The only thing that puzzles me, is the rest of the car looks suspiciously stockish...sleeper or autox/track day terror??

Before you guys get carried away with the group buy, just remember that they have to be approved by the admins.

Does look cool though. I'm just wondering how hard it is going to be to get a front only set of whatever coil over to match these would be. You can probably match the reduction in unsprung weight just by using Z32 rear uprights.

A guy made his own for his civic, looks not too bad, except he only made it with a 1:1 ratio and didn't use bearings. http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2040195 - theres the link. There are a couple more examples of some cutom one in there too. It's a good way to make room for huge tires, and the motorcycle shocks can be had for pretty cheap, and they are loaded with options. The hard part is valving them correctly, and getting proper spring rates.

Looking through the other projects, I've decided I want to buy a house with a yard just to buy the jeep lawnmower. These guys are indeed insane-ly cool. What size wheel/tire combo you think would fit with this setup without fender modification?
