I got ticketed in November for no license and doing 76 in a 50 mph zone. The chip and i also got into it about my name bc my real name is Dave on my id, not David like he thought so he had to cross out David, put down Dave on the ticket and i was on my way.

On the court date i show up to show my license and pay the fine but the clerk told me the ticket wasn't filed but can be refilled within a year so i have to check back every week or so. Not sure to be relieved about not paying a ticket or to be perturbed about having to check back every week for a year...

Weird. Sounds like it went to the same place socks go when I put them in the dryer. Hope it doesn't bite you in the butt and result in a suspension later on.

a very very long time ago I forgot I had jury duty and went to work. About halfway through the morning my boss says "hey aren't you supposed to have jury duty today?". I have been stopped, ticketed and gone to jury duty since with no issues. Sometimes justice cuts you a break sometimes it kicks you in the head for no reason at all.

Yet your s/n here is david. huh.

Also, it happened to me once for a drunk and disorderly. I was at a park kicking around a ball drinking 40s with a few acquaintances and got popped by two cops with nothing better to do that night. Waited and waited for the summons, it never came. It's been more than 7 years now...

I find it more than a little irritating that they can still file anytime in the next year and the onus is on YOU to determine if it's been done. They should at least do you the courtesy of a followup once it's followed, especially if you already willingly showed up for what you thought was your hearing.

Here, you get a summons in the mail a few weeks before you have to show up in court, not sure why you don't?

I dunno about here. I've had one ticket in the last eleven years, so I'm not particularly familiar with that process. :chuckle: Was just going by the statement from the OP.

In Tennessee, they write your court date on the ticket. Same with Texas and California. I know those for a fact.... :/

These states will only send you something if you miss your court date.

Well, I suppose they assume you will be paying off the ticket. If you miss the deadline (which is on your ticket) you will be assigned a court date. All these well-off, "don't care" office morons around here kinda skew things, I guess... :gotme

Yeah my court date was already written on the ticket like ace2cool said. The way i see it now, if the cop chooses to refile im going to fight it. I think I'd have a decent chance of beating the fine with all thats happened...

In other news, clippers put Minnesota away last night so im not tripping too much over this :D

Kansas just upgraded their system and it's all electronic now. The cop enters everything in a computer and has a printer in his car. You get a PRINTED receipt, and it automatically gets sent in electronically. I know because I just got a ticket for window tint on the Protege (I didn't tint it, it was like that when I bought it. I figured it was too dark, but let it go figuring I wouldn't get busted, LOL)

With all tickets, I say get a lawyer.

Except Montana... you pay cash to the highway patrol for speeding and get a receipt for your payment. If you don't have cash they'll be happy to follow you to the nearest ATM. It really is the old west out there.

That's kinda cool actually. Makes me want to go speeding in Montana.
