MY sister got into an accident today and total her 180sx(240sx for people who don't like the 240 to be refer as 180), all she has is liability insurance but the guy who crash her has no insurance and also he was at fault. I was wondering how does the process work for such a case like this.

I know she can ask for money from that guy to pay for damages but what i want to know is, is there a limit to how much amount she can get? any help will be appreciated.

you can ask him to pay for the damages, but if he doesn't cooperate, you may have to take him to court. She is entitled to recover reasonable and necessary expenses that are a result of the loss.

I really hate people that drive without insurance, if you cant afford it dont drive. An uninsured driver hit my rear quater panel and that was in early may, and I still havnt seen a dime for the damages, screw them.

some states require that uninsured motorist be applied as a package with liability-have her check with the insurance company for specifics-otherwise hire an attorney-most uninsured drivers are never honest enough to make right on an accident-all out of pocket, repair, rental, and medical expenses can be charged to the at fault driver- as well as undue hardship. leep the legal system in the loop to make sure that this guy is heald accountable for his actions

good luck!!!

The problem with most uninsured motorist is they are uninsured because they can't afford it. That makes getting damages from them hard because well they don't have much. Not saying everybody who drives without insurance but the majority. In all cases it's dumb. :batman

I always get uninsured motorist coverage... just have to pay a deductible and the insurance covers the rest!

well since the thread is called Ever been in accident? i was hopping that there would be interesting stories of peoples accedents. Since there is none I will regale you all with interesting stories of my own.

Accedent 1: This was most likely july of 2001 i had jsut gotten my licence as well as my first car. 1991 240sx coupe. me and my friend had takin out some girls after it was all said and done i was gonna drop my car off at home and we were gonna take his car back to his house. Well then the hardest down pour began i was going over a bridge, going way to fast i might add, and when i hit my breaks i hydroplained right into a hirgh curb.

accedent 2: after accedent 1 my mom felt sorry for me and let me take her car out, 2002 ford escape, while mine was in the shop with extensive shock and wheel damage. so there i was happy as can be stopped at a red light waiting to take a left turn. Then some jerk honks at me from behind. I had looked left and right and figured the guy honked becuase it was clear to go. This was not so. I proceded to turn into a speeding sunbird. Let me tell you that sunbird was right totaled as was my moms escape.

accedent 3: this is where it gets interesting. I had jsut gotten my car back and boy was i happy becuase i had found a job downtown which i had to bus to. me and some buddies i worked with were in my car on our way home. We went down a street when i heard my buddy say "look its a drunk natve", but before he could even finish that line this woman swurved right of the side walk dirctly into the fornt of my car, sending her flying of the roof while she held onto her bike. to make a long story short she was ok, i was not in trouble cause she was drunk, she got arrested, we all had a good laugh afterwards.

accedent 4: the worst of all accedent becuase it was the stupidest and got the car written off. i was parked on the street and pulled out right into the back wheel of some cherokee ripped off my front end and the car was writtin off. good news is bought the car from the insurence company and got it fixed and made some money out of the deal.

some other ones:got rear-ended by some gay civic.jsut 2 days ago parked on the street and some fool hit my car while i was sleeping and left it with a nice dent, getting it fixed soon.

I had someone rear end my old civic before. It was during a freezing rain storm in the winter. I had to get my car into the window tint place before school. A friend followed my to pick me up. Well a tree fell, I stopped my friend didn't. I got rear ended my a CRX. It tore off my front lip and tore the rear bumper and messed up the rear bumper support. He paid for the new parts and we fixed it ourself without turning it into the insurance company, to keep his rates low. I have also seen many accidents, close enough to have glass fly in the windows and sunroof. Nick

Drift-sx, don't worry about it man you're in good company. I've had at least 4 accidents too. :( Most were caused by car part failure and some driver inexperience after I started driving back in '95-96. This is gonna be long :(

1. 1986 Camaro Z28 - this thing was in rear mint condition and was generally a great car. Ran great, had all the options and a carbed 305 V8. Nice first car. Hydroplaned it into curb and then a telephone pole during a heavy down pour one night. I was going just under 40mph on a 40mph street but bad tires. TOTALED.

2. 1987 Camaro IROC-Z28 - Not nearly as nice as the previous car but much quicker and my first fuel injected car; 305 TPI. I rear ended some girl in an Escort ZX2 (they were new at the time). Messed up front end but insurance company gave me a check for repairs. The girl faked a neck injury and was sued by my insurance company! :D

3. Only a few months later in the same car in a two lane road; ran into a large piece of concrete at night left by some construction equipment working in the area. The car flew (airborne) off the road into a ditch and was killed by another large piece of concrete that ripped up the drivers front of the car; ripped off the wheel. TOTALED.

4. 1989 Trans Am GTA - GM performance crate engine 350 w/ TPI and was the fasted car yet. It was stolen before I had the chance to wreck it! Found 6 months later w/ the interior in pieces and no stereo (I've still got the face for it...why'd they take it???).

5. 1988 Trans Am GTA - Swapped out the 350 TPI engine in favor of a Grand National/TTA 3.8 intercooled turbo V6! This car was awesome and fast! :D I loved this thing. My first turbo car (moment the turbo addiction began). Cruising down Preston Rd. (major 6 lane street here in Plano/Dallas, TX) and was force to stop suddenly. The front end started to buck wildly and flew out of control. The car hopped the median and slide sideways across the on coming lanes (fortunetly light traffic) into a curb. At this point the whole thing flipped over coming to a rest on the roof. :freak :help I was there hanging from my seatbelt with the car still running! I turned off the igntion, unhooked my seatbelt and crawled through the open passenger window. Looked on is dismay...later was taken to the hospital and xrayed...I was mostly okay. OBVIOUSLY TOTALED.

It's been quite some time since that last accident fortunetly. But I've also been rear ended about 3 times now...no damage in any of those yet. I've learned some things though: good tires are important, earlier f-body's have bad brakes, ALWAYS wear a seatbelt! I'm a MUCH better driver now btw...too much experience. :rolleyes

I've only been in one accident (*knock on wood*) 16+6 Days. My moms 97 Camry.. I ran a red light, broadsided a little toyota extended cab truck. 11K to my moms car, totaled the truck. I got sued. 3 Ppl in the other car 60K for one, 6K for one, and 5K for one. Court sucks.

Oh, roughly 125K for the insurance co counting medical bills and all. My insurance only went up about 60 bucks for a while, then I went to Liability only and it was only about 20 higher than quoted before the wreck (all this after I got my car) and now the accident surcharge is gone gone. Thank god.

My first and only accident (so far) was last sept. Some ***** slowed down to early at a light, and i rear-ended her going about 80 km/h. Amazingly enough, there was no damage to her camry or my s13. She was bull****ting about taking me too court about the whiplash, but nothing has happened so far... *crosses fingers*
