I sat here thinking that over the course of time with any and all of my vehicles I have added/modified some stupid things that I later regretted and had to remove/fix. It got me thinking that other automotive enthusiasts may benefit from your regret. Vote in the poll under the category you most regretted your mod and then explain in detail. It must be 240 related. It must be something YOU did, not somebody else or to a car that's not yours. If you're unsure which category to put it in, just pick the most obvious choice. Pics are a plus!

For me it falls under 'drivetrain. It was when I first tuned in the turbo system on my KA. I used a 'not so new' threaded adapter for my mechanical oil pressure gage where the line inserts into the block. Well needless to say, it mangaged to wiggle itself out as I was picking up my son from school. One of the teachers in the student pick up line asked if my car was leaking oil. I said no, and pointed at my gage which was showing good pressure. Not even 2 minutes later as I left the lot, the pressure dropped, I pulled over, killed the engine and noticed a huge puddle of oil and snail-trail all the way back to the school!

Ebay Headers on an otherwise stock KA. Bad fitment. Now my steering linkage knocks against the plugged outlet for the egr everytime on my way to full wheel lock. I should have listened to ppl when they said don't do it and that it would be pointless anyways. Fail fail fail.

Could you elaborate on that? I'm curious. I have all kinds of ideas and plans for my car and recently began to think that maybe I should scale back some of these things... What has been your experience?

Ive spent A LOT, however i dont regret it. The way i see it id rather put 20k into this car than buy a brand new car for 20k.

Modding ftw just make sure you make the right choices. Dont buy cheap crap either, otherwise YOU WILL be posting in this thread.

I regret putting all this money into a car thats not even close to being done.lets see, $2,500 for the Datsun 510$5200 for the S2000$3000 for the 2.4l f20 stroker$500 for the gt3071r turbo$1000 for the misc lines/hoses$2,300 for the CF stuff on order

and i still need about another $5k in parts for the motor to be done and misc stuff.

So lets say $14,000 on the safe side just for what i have and not even a running car......yea i couldve gotten a Skyline for that much. wowzers i didnt even realize i was that deep in my project! LOL money flies!!

Well im hoping to finish her up soon!WASTING MONEY is my regret, couldve been earning interest at a bank or soemthing!

I don't really regret anything specifically.

Now that it's time to sell the car, I regret every dollar I sunk into it. Lol

being too stupid to figure out that my black hatch had a blown computer when i had a spare one sitting in the garage. led to me selling it; bought my coupe shell for the same price as i bought the black hatch running. don't you just hate realizing you're better off just throwing the money in the trash then to have to deal with what you got now?

everything ive done to my 240 has been nothing but greatness... but....

my camaro omg... nothing but zomg mistakes and what not

long story short...

bought 350 long block, slapped heads, intake, cam on without checkin the lower end or researching my parts... burnt up an auto trans because it didnt like the power level i was at. pulled motor after maybe 3000 miles due to massive oil leak on heads... found:

every bearing scrapped to the copper.. every single one, crank was ruined, new cam scrapped 3 lobes, destroyed a couple lifters, etc... the motor was not in as good a condition as i was told it was and the parts i used i found out later had a high fatality rate.

fast foward. i now against the advice of my machine shop i slip a T5 manual behind the motor... zomg they were right... trashed 2nd gear and 4th... not meant for the tq i was putting down.

trade an awesome carb for an efi set up with a megasquirt... get frustrated and trade it for a race carb set up that doesnt run right....

get mad trade camaro for stock 93 240sx now im here lol

all in all the camaro had a full custom autometer gauge set up made by me. lowering springs. manual trans conversion, motor that after all the rebuilds due to my own lack of experience cost around $7k for a basic 357cid chevy motor, etc etc...

i traded a 91 camaro with $10k invested for a $2000 93 coupe that needed front control arms, a motor ( it leaked alot and had to refill oil every 300miles and then overheated) and i dont regret it at all

i do miss the cackle of a heavily cammed v8 tho
