Evaporator Core Removal

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. My wife's 2007 Sentra 2.0 S has got some mildew growing in A/C System. When we turn the air on it smells horrible, but after a few min it goes away. She is now pregnant and this is a major health concern. I have read that you have to kill the mildew in the evaporator Core. I also know it is somewhere in the dash area but I don't know where or how to get to it. Can someone help me with how to get to the evaporator core so I can spray it with a mildew killer? I have tried putting it in through the air intake on the outside of the car but it doesn't really work, nor does putting it through the vents of the car. Thanks for your help!!!

That sounds terrible. Unfortunately, you would most likely need to remove the entire dash to sufficiently access your vehicle's HVAC equipment. If you're a DYI type of person, here is alink to the FSM (Factory Service Manual) where you can find out how to remove and reinstall pretty much every part of your car.

If you're not up for removing 1/4 of your car's interior, you might want to consider taking it to the stealership or your favorite mechanic.

I was afraid of that, can anyone help me with locating the evap cooler drain? I'm thinking if I can spray some evap cleaner through that it should reach the evaporator without having to remove it.

It will be on the firewall in the engine bay. Should be around the general vicinity of where the a/c lines enter the car, but 12-16" lower.
