Good evening,

While getting back from dealer after the recall, check engine came on.

I get code P0455 and P1448.

I have to say, last time a filled up, I did overfill the tank. Then while driving it was smelling gas. As I parked home, gas was leaking around the evap canister on the ground. :wtf2: (could not see where it was clearly from, it was night time.)

Any ideas? Could the Canister be full of gas and\or the vent valve is stuck? :gotme

Thanks

update: Dealer said I need a new vent valve, a new canister and a new sensor. quote around 1000$. This morning I have unbolted the vent valve and tested it on a battery. Working fine. I have also check the canister for anything suspiscious, Found nothing and charcoal looks ok. I'm confuse.

The code are telling me vent valve and gross leak. If the vent valve is working, what else could trigger this code?

Pull the canister off and mark where each hose where it is located. Then blow the canister out with low pressure compressed air to remove charcoal bits. Check to visualize any charcoal. If any, you must replace charcoal to the canister.

Reassemble, then run vehicle but first clear codes.

Operate vehicle at all speeds and check for codes. If any, diagnose what it is that sends an alarm, if any valves check them again be sure to mark all hoses. Charcoal bits in a valve will jam the vale open. Take your time and clean out the valves.

This is a not too hard job but it is a must do job.

With all hoses marked, use wire markers and sketch how they are attached, when hooking back up any mistake will send an alarm to the MIL light.

There is a schematic in your manual showing the detail of this system, use it to help you.

What I did sunday was:

-removed vent valve, clean, lubricate, test, reinstall
-remove canister, check for cracks, reinstalled
-remove sensor, check, clean, reinstall

I did not blew any air, my mistake. Will do Thursday.

For clearing the codes, I need to go to the dealer each time. The pedal procedure or unhooking the battery for 24 hrs do not work for me.

I have found the problem finally...yeah...took me sometimes...The fuel seems to be leaking from the top of the tank(where the fuel pump go into the tank) so I believe there is a o-ring around the fuel pump assembly? There is gas around that area and it is wet since I just fueled.(I removed the inspection cover under rear seat).

MAybe the o-ring got busted because I was topping completely the tank each time?

Will change the ring this week-end.

Remember when filling to let filler gun shut off AND YOU ARE DONE, if your compulsion to fill to the gunnels continues fill up a separate 5 gallon pail and send it to me post paid and I will use it.

changed the o-ring, but it does not seems to be damage. Compare to the new one, it looks bigger and sort of inflated...Anyway no more gas odor, no leaking at this point. Still the CEL is on. Tried to erase it by disconnecting the battery 24 hours did not work. The sequence with the gas pedal never worked for me. I will also change the gas cap in case. I am not overfilling it anymore at this point :chuckle:
