CEL -- codes pointed to the vent control value open circuit. It's such a common issue with older Nissans that against my normal way of doing things I just ordered another valve without checking. Naturally .. my valve is fine and it's the harness. Nissan made the EVAP harness so tight on theses cars ... the wires failed at the main 8 pin connection plug. Dealer said NLA .. I can't find the plug anyplace either?

Anyone run into this ?? I tried a couple of used auto wreckers .. no luck getting a used one so far. Mine is a 2002

my last resort will be to cut off the connectors and splice in a length of wire -- it's in a difficult spot ...

The plugs you have can't be repaired? That would be my first choice. Then replacement. If un-sourceable, a generic 8 pin male and female connector could be installed which is slightly better than splicing all together permanently. That is, unless the sensor is part of the plug. Also, Wiring Specialties may make that particular plug (they make lots of plugs) so call them to ask. Too bad it's hard to access it all. Typical of engine bays...

It's actually under the rear bumper/fender ... behind the drivers rear wheel. Not an easy spot .. no one has the connector. The parts guy at the dealer said he would check to see if it's in any of the service packs back in the service department. Evidently Nissan provides the dealers with various connectors for service work .. although he could not find it in the book. The pins don't come out like a typical connector that I have been able to take apart -- otherwise I would have spliced in a length of wire.

Well ..... I finally found a yard that would sell me the harness. Had to buy the whole EVAP canister -- but, I got the harness. What a pain ... $70 bucks w/shipping. No more CEL .. and due for inspection next month.
