Uh, could you unlock the mpg thread? I understand why you did it and appreciate the work you put into this forum but no need to lock one of the most helpful threads just because we have an "untactful" member go a little crazy. Besides, we'll just have to start another mpg thread to track mileage trends as everyones' cars break in, and wouldn't it be much more convenient to have all the mpg info in one thread?

That thread was getting confusing, not to mention unruly. I might unlock the thread in a few days, but it might just be better to start a fresh, shiny new one... and we can just take the few seconds to post our own numbers again, without the clutter.

If i am fault let me at least explain myself, this is a section dedicated to Versa milage only, but i have seen honda fit and scion AxB and other stuff bashing versa and nissan mentioning in the threads, and how good their miliage is comparing to versa. Now it sound like that is putting versa in a grave and putting the fit and scion in front on this great platform and on a platform saying donot buy a versa get a fit or a scion. It was irrevelant to mention fit and scion, the post clearly said VERSA MILAGE and i want to see exactly that or something relevant to help achieve good milage with versa. We take our nissans seriously and i am one of them.

if i am not welcome to post in there tell me, it no hard feeling after all we are all here to learn for mistakes forgive and live in peace. luv ya all.

EV: Don't be the forum Nazzi. Unlock the thread. They're talking about fuel economy and the technology that contributes to it. I've seen a lot worse topic drift in other threads.

Telling me to do something and trying to taunt me won't make me do it.

I have already told you my intentions: I *MAY* reopen the thread in a few days.

As for the forum Nazi part.. that's a moderator's job. It's not the most popular in the world.

Ben, this is not a drift forum with a lot of youngsters who like to bash and cause conflict. EV is doing exactly as we want a Moderator to do. If a thread is going off track then it is his job to remedy the situation. This sub-forum is young and we wish to keep it as amicable as possible.

If you think "we" like locking threads you are dead wrong. No staff member on NICO likes it. Unfortunately, it is something that needs to be done at times. Since NICO staff members are volunteers, they take the time out of their day to "give back to the community" in a position where they are second guessed, complained to and called names (like Nazi).

If you think cleaning up threads is fun, it's not. It is also annoying to have to spend the additional time playing "mommy" when you could be doing something useful or spending your time in a better fashion. We all have other things we would like to do besides cleaning up after others.

That being said, the thread will be reopened at a time when EV feels it is proper to do so.

And you're doing a fine job, EV. It's a tough job balancing the amount of interchange with the risk that incivility will drive off those who would most benefit from the information. Us old sweats just learn to ignore threads that've turned into flames, but a new Versa owner is likely to read everything. If they think they'll be skewered for asking a question or stating an opinion, the forum loses its usefulness.

well ben i have to agree with EV, we made alot of mistakes in that thread and EV was kind enough to ease us up.THE HEADING STATED "THE REAL WORLD MILAGE." and we turn it into the real world garbage. There was even an irrevalent post about Americans being fat, whither it was a joke are not, it was very unruly and insultive to over wieght people. when we are wrong we are wrong,SORRY EV FOR SPOIL YOUR POST.I am could have done better when posting and i did not,but if you read my previous posts they are much simpler with alot of contents. And stop the name calling, all of us here are here to learn from each other, I might just find out that even you could know more that i do. SO let there be peace, love and harmony in this forum, and turn it into the best forum ever.

If you're referring to my future plans in my sig, thank you. If not, then I am confused. I have been following SEMA and am impressed by everyone's effort with the V, I just can't wait until we get some dyno charts for some of the modded cars. But now this thread is starting to drift, so back to the topic at hand. I support EV's decisions, when a topic starts to drift, it should be shut down; people expecting to gather information based on the title of the thread can no longer do so if the topic has taken a 180. If somebody gets an idea for a new topic, make a new one, it helps to keep the board organized. Also, people should look around for similar topics before making new ones. For example, there are several threads that concern the audio system and/or speakers when all new questions can be asked in one thread. That is all I have to say, otherwise this board is great, it's one of the best I've been on. All I need is for people to mod out their V's so I can get some ideas .

Hey I didn't read any flame jobs in that thread, maybe I got there after you erased something.

What I read seemed appropriate and relavent to a discussion on real-world MPG. I don't know what you expect to see there, maybe it's "My MPG is X and I drive like Y" and that's all you're willing to tolerate. If that's it, then I disagree with you. That's what I would call being a Nazzi: "No soup for you..."

I wouldn't say that If I thought anyone (EV or others) was thin-skinned enough to be offended by it. Without apologizing, let me just say I don't intend to offend.

Moderate as you see fit. It's not my job. I'm just here cause I have something in common with the rest of you. And because this is a FORUM I will give my opinions just like everyone else.

It wasn't a matter of being thin-skinned. There were two threads with this ongoing discussion of the CVT, one started to drift and I saw a couple jabs in the other one (it may have been the other one), so I decided to put a stop to it.

Now that the parties involved have responded and realized WHY I did it, I am going to go ahead and unlock the thread.

Not because someone feels I'm a Nazi.

Oh, and Chano, on the NissanVersa.org main website are two articles on two different SEMA Versas. NICO sent several representatives to SEMA, who brought back much information not only on Nissans in general, but specifically the Versa due to it being the new toy.

I do not want to drift from the topic, but i had to run and break the first post, Anyway EV it is safe to assume that you know all of nissan new technologys in Japan, that are not seen over in usa and Canada, like the variable vavle event and lift system, and the variable compression ratio piston - crank system, to be available in the next generation. I know about the versa org. but not about you guys been there at the SEMA show.

Now that we are all kissing EV's a$$, let me put on some lipstick...just kidding. . I find that EV's a great moderator. I agree with his decision to lock the topic (when it was locked). The topic was starting to get so far off topic that I just stopped visiting the topic all together. I think EV's doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

Proxim - you got a little something there on your nose, buddy.

Chano - No, that would not be a good assumption. I am a computer repairman by trade and a car aficionado (not engineer or mechanic) as a hobby. I don't know too much about the technical workings of cars and I try to avoid such discussions when possible because it's 1) boring to me and 2) I don't really have a leg to stand on.

Disagreement is fine. Opinions are fine. Forums are an expressionless medium, so how you type it may not be how others perceive what you mean. You calling someone a "Nazzi" and then following up with "No soup for you" could be read as derogatory remarks, as an example.

Food for thought.

I asked EV NOT to be a Nazzi.

I find there are expressionless readers of forums... some have no sense of humor. Not that I'm a commedian.

We err when we take this stuff personally and that's when you see things get ugly.

Ben
