OK... so here's my preliminary data. I don't have large enough sample sizes in some areas, so I will note those.

Overall Test ResultsTotal reported mileage: 19091.8Total gallons expended: 642.8Overall fuel economy: 29.70 MPG

Test Results: CVT transmissionTotal reported mileage: 10982.1Total gallons expended: 378.1Overall fuel economy: 29.04 MPG

Test Results: 6-speed Manual transmission (Insufficient sample size)Total reported mileage: 6428.3Total gallons expended: 209.1Overall fuel economy: 30.74 MPG

Test Results: 4-speed Automatic transmission (Insufficient sample size)Total reported mileage: 1681.4Total gallons expended: 55.6Overall fuel economy: 30.24 MPG

Test Results: By traffic typeType A (0-25 mph): 29.28 mpg (Insufficient sample size)Type B (26-45 mph): 24.36 mpg (Insufficient sample size)Type C (46+ mph): 30.91 mpg

Test Results: By weightType A (driver only): 29.72 mpgType B (driver +1): no dataType C (2 or more passengers): 29.51 (Insufficient sample size)

Test Results: By altitudeType A (0-1500): 29.42 mpgType B (1501-3000): 32.50 (Insufficient sample size) Type C (3000+): no data

Test Results: By driving habitsType A (conservative): 28.60 mpgType B (moderate): 30.33 mpgType C (aggressive): 29.51 (Insufficient sample size)

Test Results: By A/C useType A (0-30%): 29.40 mpgType B (31-70%): 30.88 mpgType C (71%+): 33.29 (Insufficient sample size)

Though we do not have good sample sizes in some areas, we can see some surprises... like conservative driving appears to be worse than moderate driving.

Others are no surprise, like the trending of the 6MT being better than the CVT.

Interesting results. Gotta wonder what's up with mpg going up with A/C use.

My site has an ongoing real-world fuel economy survey that, like this one, is more sophisticated than most. So far I'm just posting raw results. Will analyze them when I have enough data.

I'm not seeing any problems at the moment. Might have been a momentary server issue. They aren't common, but they happen.

If you have the same problem again, please let me know the exact links you clicked on.

We should really be doing this in liters, because american gallons are smaller than canadian gallons.

I have a Canadian version of the survey, you put all your info in in kms and liters.

I then use a conversion program to convert the data back to miles and gallons.

I'm sorry, waltersi - this thread is for the results of my fuel economy survey, not personal results. If you are looking to post your own personal results, please use the "Versa Fuel Mileage" thread in the main part of the forum.

Some more data has come in, here are some revised numbers.

Test Results: 6-speed Manual transmissionTotal reported mileage: 9707.8Total gallons expended: 313.6Overall fuel economy: 30.96 MPG

Test Results: 4-speed Automatic transmission (Insufficient sample size)Total reported mileage: 2898.9Total gallons expended: 106.1Overall fuel economy: 27.32 MPG

Test Results: By traffic typeType A (0-25 mph): 29.28 mpg (Insufficient sample size)Type B (26-45 mph): 25.13 mpgType C (46+ mph): 30.78 mpg

Test Results: By weightType A (driver only): 29.41 mpgType B (driver +1): 22.29 (Insufficient sample size)Type C (2 or more passengers): 29.51 (Insufficient sample size)

Test Results: By altitudeType A (0-1500): 29.19 mpgType B (1501-3000): 27.38 (Insufficient sample size) Type C (3000+): no data

Test Results: By driving habitsType A (conservative): 29.42 mpgType B (moderate): 28.98 mpgType C (aggressive): 28.31 (Insufficient sample size)

Test Results: By A/C useType A (0-30%): 29.17 mpgType B (31-70%): 29.00 mpgType C (71%+): 28.51 (Insufficient sample size)

Ok... I think we got one or two more categories to finally get into the sufficient sample size category, and data on one category that previously had none.

6MT's are still king for fuel economy... Traffic seems to be the biggest steady factor in fuel economy (other than transmission) followed by weight.

Most everything else seems to be a non-factor, so far.
