Prices seem about right actually. I'm from the UK, living in the US. Some things cost more over there, some cost less (healthcare, just as a completely out of the blue example!).
It's going to be a fairly niche market that Infiniti are going to have to win over, and I wish them the best of luck.
The EX starts at 35,200GBP = $57,270 USThe Murano (no options available, it comes fully loaded, thats it) is 32,150GBP = $52,310 USBMW X3 base model starts at 27,870GBP = $45,345 US
As I've said before, what I think will be Infiniti's main hurdle is their lack of engine choices. Brits are used to finding a car they like, and then choosing the best engine for their needs. If you want an X3, you have a choice of 1 petrol engine, and 4 diesels. If you want a Focus, you have a choice from 4 different petrol engines or 4 different diesels. Mercedes M Class, 2 petrol's, 3 diesels. You get the idea. I actually can't think of any manufacturers there who don't offer different engine choices.
Cars there are taxed annually based on their CO2 emissions, plus employees who have company cars (quite common) are taxed on their benefit in kind, partly based on the vehicles CO2 emissions. I'm pretty sure the EX isn't gonna do too well on that front. Actually I just found it...265g per km. For comparison, the Prius spurts out 92g/km and a Murano 261g/km. EX owners will have to pay 405GBP a year for car tax (the equivalent here is renewing your registration every year), Prius owners will pay nothing. An average diesel X3 will cost 175GBP in tax each year.
They only have one dealer open right now...I'm heading 'home' later this week for a few days, unfortunately the one open dealer isn't near me, I would have liked to go take one for a spin and see how it compares!
