Whew! I was afraid you were going to link to a study saying that Ethanol would cause my car to degenerate into a Lexus!

Infiniti should have a recall of its early Q45 fuel injectors, but I doubt they will. They never recalled the J30s for their door lock problems or headlight relay problems or dashboard dimmer problems that almost every owner has experienced. They never recalled the early Q45s for their chain guide problems either.

"degenerate"...how so? I commend Lexus recalling their cars because of the ethanol issues. Victor you are correct too...especially concerning the chain guides issue.

Degenerate... as in verb... to become a soul-less Toyota

In all seriousness I agree with you on commending them for the recall. And I agree that Infiniti should have recalled the guides... or at least admitted that they were an issue. I have been on that soap box for years.

Does anybody feel that if we were to maybe email or type letters and mail them to Infiniti that they might feel just a little concerned to help there customers?

Glad I'm not the only one who read it that way.

It's rather not so coincindental that Infiniti's falgship reputation for the Q45 started sinking about when the timing chain guide issue became more widely known in the later 1990s although it had been cured in 1994. Seems like they could have saved lots of face by admitting and correcting it.

Saw on Autotrade TV show how they were extolling the longevity of the 240D mid eighties MB (which were tanks) then they mentioned the timing chain had to be replaced every 100K. Say what?

We don't realize how lucky we are, and even fewer owners realize how good their cars can be with a little rehabilitation. Let's put dubs on a beater and be kewl!

Members seem to not understand that the one and only customer Infiniti has is the new car buyer and they treat that new car buyer very well.Buying a used car doesn't generate a penny of revenue to Infiniti so anything they do for a used car buyer under the NEW CAR WARRANTY is a gift.

And you are horrible if you think it's ok for them to treat people badly because they are NOT buying a car with 0 mileage. Yeah, they treat them well so they can stick them with a new car that will depreciate atleast 15% as soon as they drive off the lot.

Not like Nissan hasn't stepped up and made bad injectors right. I have a 84' 300ZX which I got a new set of injectors for in 1996 on a recall fully 12 years after they cashed my check and they actually gave me a check for $1100 bucks for a 1985 Maxima that I had replaced the injector set on one year before the recall. Of course many of the Z's and Max's were catching fire, which happened to the previous owner of the Maxima, but the Z never had an issue.

Nissan I would say is better than most car companies. Over the years they were very good with cars I bought from them. I had plenty of work done to all my cars that had factory warranty attached to them...I have bought 5 Nissans so obviously I thought they did right.

The timing guides for sure was an issue but it wasn't ever a safety issue which I think is why the buried that. But the dealerships never really understood the issue while they were new enough to care. I remember my Dad telling his buddy a senior service writer at Infiniti of Ventura about the issue on his 1992 and he told my dad "do not worry about, it is a wives tale" and than he sells the car and 2 days later the guides blow up.

I couldn't see the article as it had expired but I think Nissan ranks high in my book as a customer for the last 25 years.

Then they should make the new car warranty non-transferable to subsequent owners! But they know that they would shoot themselves in the foot by making the cars worth even less in the aftermarket.

They're complying with the terms of a contract - including the transferability terms.
