Ok. So i know a lot of people on these forums massive knowledge about working on cars and may/may have work/worked as mechanics. Question: How much would you charge for labor to replace a flywheel on a FWD?

So far i have been given 3 estimates: $150 (i suspect it's because i know the person), $275 (also may be because i know the person), and $450 (i also know this person, but claims it's because the subframe will need to be dropped).

this all comes down to hours my friend... look up the process in a DIY on one of the honda/acura forums and in that you should be able to figure out the hours that go into it... does the subframe need to be dropped? most likely not... is it possible? yes.... find a DIY and figure out the process and what makes sense

It books out as 7.5 to 9 hours depending on the options.
That would cost you 750 to 900 at your average shop, and 1000 to 1350 at the dealer in labor alone.

All are good deals. Dropping the subframe is really really easy on those. i just did a clutch in an 02 rsx type s. 2 bolts to drop the hub, 4 bolts to drop the subframe, 3 motor mounts, a handful of transmission bolts, and a couple of small bolts and clips and it comes right out the driver wheel well.

That said, if you cant do it yourself. I would be charging 400 too, and I did. Thats how I charge, about 50% of a normal shops labor. If your friend that is charging 150 needs your help the whole time, you need to factor that in.

You need to replace the clutch plate, pressure plate, and throwout bearing while your in there. It would be very stupid to do otherwise, unless you just replaced them, as in less than 40k miles ago.
