Does this seem too high? And why does an a/f ratio gauge cost 497 dollars? I'm defineatly going to try and get them to bring this down. And also does anyone have any suggestions for better parts that I could purchase, that aren't much more expensive. I'm looking for about 260-270 rwhp at 11 psi or so.

Your senses are not fooling you. Some of the stuff on that list is way over-priced. I actually think that the turbo and intercooler is alright. However, some of these guages can be got much cheaper. And their install is not that hard(i.e. boost gauge), so if you can read instructions, you can put them in and save some money. Now, I don't know if this is a package deal, but if you can itemize, you can definetly find better prices. For 7 grand, I'd want to be pushing much more than 270-300 rwhp.I just put an xs engineering T3 with garret internals in my KA, and from top to bottom ( I didn't need outside labor DIY) it cost me $1800 with EVERYTHING.including SAFCII.

I'm sure I could do alot of the stuff exlcuding electrical. This is a pakcage deal but i was hoping to spend more like 5500. I may be able to get the turbo kit for cost from a friend so that would shave off like 1200 bucks.

The reason the A/F gauge is so expensive is because its a UEGO wideband, which I think is really unnecessary for your setup.

Labor prices for just about everything is pretty much outrageous. $150 to install a boost controller? $35 to weld on a flange for the BOV, and then ANOTHER $45 to freakin put the BOV on that flange and attach 1 vaccum line??? $125 to install your A/F gauge?!

Honestly just about every labor price on that list is way more expensive than it should be.

In addition, I dont understand why they want to dyno tune your emanage-- the whole idea of the kit is that the emanage comes pre programmed for the greddy kit. I suppose it could probably use some tweaking, but thats really not something thats worth 500 bucks I dont think.

I'm 99% sure Walboro makes a pump for the S14 as well, I guarantee people on this board are using them..

This shop looks like its overcharging quite a bit here, and trying to sell you things you dont need. I'd steer clear.

i believe people have gotten more hp from that same money.(pretty sure you can get a built motor + a turbokit like IAP's and still be around that price range, lol). yeah the shop is overcharging, i mean you can piece a good kit or get 1 from sponsors, and another shop wouldn't charge that much for installing.(DIY would be better, teaches you how to do things).

Ok so If i were to do it myself how much time am I looking at and how hard is it going to be on a scale of 1-10. Plus how hard is it to tune the e-manage. I would love to have a built engine, but I'm worried about being legal, I want to be able to pass emissions that is the main reason why i want the greddy. Boost designs sells built motors for 2000 dollars but, i don't know what year car it will be from, in my case i need to have a 97 or 98 engine in order to pass inspection.

If anyone knows of a way that I could get a built engine and a turbo set-up and have it installed for about 6 grand i would be very happy. It would also need to be emissions legal, but i might be able to get the guys at my local kwik car to help me out

dude you are in dallas, tx. As long as your car doesn't throw any ecu codes you should be fine passing inspection.(as long as the rest works, like lights and safety)

sorry, i don't really know many shops that'll install it, i'll be doing mine myself whenever i get the parts, i do know shops that'll dyno tune it but you wont need it that much since you are gettin a greedy kit.(they may be able to install it, not sure how much though)

Well to do it yourself I would say set aside a 4 day weekend, that is IF your Mecanicaly Inclined, This should be enuff time to do everything carefully and precisely, there isn't much wiring in the kit, really just the e-manage (about 10 wires off of ECU) and the Injectors (8 wires, 2 per Injector). You can run the base map in the E-manage without tuning it, this would elimanate the E0-1 and the wideband cost from the list but you wouldn't be able to go past the ~6psi setting on the kit(good for about 200hp). Other things that took more time were the oil pan, for this you will need to tap the pan and weld a fitting that greddy Included with the kit, Removal of the pan is kinda hard I though, you will need a hoist to raise the engine then lower the cross member, well the car is on jackstands. To me the rest of the Kit was part removal from the car (front bumper for FMIC, stock air box, exhaust Mani and exhaust if your gonna get one otherwise just mani, old Injectors and fuel rail and a few misc parts.) then its mounting the new mani, turbo, downpipe, IC and pipes and running the vac lines, well I was in there I kinda cleaned up the metal brackets on the Intake mani for simplicity later on. There is alot more to it then it sounds like tho and I'm sure that some things got left out but are still Important, but for the sake of giving you an Idea greddy has directions on there website. Since the kit does not have a BOV your gonna have to buy one yourself and have a shop/friend (I guess the same one who welds your oil pan) weld the flange for the BOV on the IC pipes (that shop was way exspensive for this labor find somewhere else), after that the BOV bolts to flange and has a vac line going to it. As far as the Turbo Timer, Just run synthic oil. Bam thats gone. And since your not gonna tuen the kit you wouldn't need a wideband, so thats out. Boost could be worried about later because you should get usat that setup then think about where 2 go w/ tuning once you have all the bugs worked out. BTW are they giving you a copy of the software to tune it once you leave? otherwise thats the lamest sale of a wide band ever, its not like you could tune it w/o the software making the WB useless except for a display and maybe a warning just my .02any ways check out the greddy site for a walk through of kit install and ask q's on what you don't understand

thats jotech for you. they charge that much because someone is willing to pay it, even if you're not. people trust jotech with their expertise considering they were on top with the fastest unibody in the world for a few years. beats me, I do my own work but I still have respect for the shop.

Anyways I may be of some help if you decide to install it yourself. I'm sure I can find you a lot better deals locally as well.

Yea you can build and engine any buy a turbo kit from IAP and We'll show you how to install.Quite a few of us got ktis on order or on the way and going to take pics of install. Not to mention those who have already installed.Best bet IMO is buy the greddy kit. Then get FMIC for it.And get what is it greddy profec E0-1?That's puts him at what under 4k?But then your going to have little things to add on.1 do you have exhaust yet? 2.Fuel upgrade. 3. list goes on just depend on your plans and what you already have

if you can afford that costs that they quoted you, u need to go and talk to someone from some other shops. IAP and phat KA-T are the first that come to mind. For seven G's, you could literally be making at least 450whp at the wheels. I think you should really start shopping around as the install on any turbo kit when i was looking only came to around a thousand. That greddy kit is ok but im sure any of the mods or experienced members on this forum could help you piece together a kit with brand new parts for half the cost..............................................

$325 for a profec bspec II - and that's after a discount, and not including labor to install? Wow...

if that's indicative of the way they "discounted" everything for your estimate, then I would be skeptical, at the least. Good luck with your project though.

If you look in my sig you will see a list of the mods I already have. I also just got the transmission rebuilt in prep for boost. I would really like to look more into buying a built engine as long as I can do it without throwing an ECU code. So if anyone has any info thatd be great.

Here is your greddy kit someone is selling on E-BAY. Just came across it. Doesn't have intercooler so you will still need that but you could score this kit and buy your intercooler for what it cost for just the kit. Don't know this guy so it will your call on purchasing from him. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33742
