New member...1st post

I have a '98 Altima 4 cyl. I bought it a month ago. 96k miles, great shape, quiet and smooth engine. I haven't been getting more than 15mpg city. I have made every attempt to get the maximum mpg (slow accel etc.). I don't smell any gas odor so I do not think I have a leak. Someone mentioned it maybe an O2 sensor. Any ideas. Thanks Bill

Welcome to NICO...

Hows your air filter? if its clogged it can rob a couple mpg's.

+1 - just bring it to your local mechanic to look over a bit - there are a lot of things that can be found by just giving the car a nice little look over - spark plugs, air filters, etc...

Hey, I replied to your other thread, I'm wondering if you checked the air filter, plugs, etc?

Get some time and go over the whole engine, I'm sure you'll see what you're dealing with. I flog the hell out of my altima, and always achieve 35+mpg... even in the city I use only supreme fuel 91 octane.

And please don't use any "fuel injector cleaner" as Nissan's tend to not like such treatment for the injectors... although a 2nd gen alty with 95 miles is faily low mileage/use for the year, so perhaps is just due for a tune-up.

Good luck, merry Christmas
