Escort 9500ix install

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I installed a new Escort 9500ix in the EX yesterday using a 12" Invisicord and SouthernCarParts Super Suction mount. The Invisicord has pins that you can force into the back of plugs. I filed the pins down a bit so they would go in the plug easier. The power pin goes in the next to right mirror plug wire and the ground next to the center wire. The right wire is controlled by the ignition switch and the far left is always on if you care.

I got the detector, cord, SCP mount, and free shipping from SouthernCarParts at 499.

Clean install.

Question... do you think our Laser Cruise Control Beam would screw up the Cops Laser Gun readings ?

I agree, this looks really clean. Did you take pictures throughout the entire install process?

My brother who has an FX also has a radar detector (not sure which brand) and it doesnt seem to bother the ICC or Lane departure sensor at all.

I read EXceptional question as asking about the possible effects that our systems have on police radars not about the possible effects that radar detectors have on our systems.

You're right. Guess I was half asleep this morning in the office again!

No, they transmit a different wave length of light.

I wish I could afford the $1600 + install 9500CI with the laser shifter. I only have the detector because my city uses photo speed radar vans for cash cows along with red light cameras. Currently a good radar detector gives you a warning before you drive through the camera van speed traps.

I only took pictures after it was in. Is there something that isn't clear about the install? Other than filing down the invisicord power and ground pins a bit there isn't much else to the install. The suction cup mount has a lever that locks or releases the mount along with having a clip that works with the detector.

One thing I have noticed is the GPS doesn't know if you are heading towards a red light camera or just passing by it on an adjoining street. I get GPS based camera alerts driving on the freeway as I pass by a camera intersection just off a freeway exit. The alert is based upon distance from the intersection and not on the direction you are traveling.

I`ve been searching for radar detector for a month to replace my aging

Escort 8500 x50 (blue) and decided to get me a new 9500IX.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Valentine V1 , but sold on the 9500ix bec

of the GPS capabilities. Since I travel to Illinois more often, I guess the

redlight camera, speed traps etc. features on the ix made me pick it easily.

It took me forever to decide where to install my detector that won`t be

obvious from the outside or a cop standing outside the driver side door.

(You know, Instant on and Laser will often beat the radar if you don`t

know the rules of safe speeding). My next mod will be the M25 laser

jammer.

Here are some pics:

I can still remove the detector if I want to.

I actually used an Invisicord 8" wire to tap in the rearview mirror power

source. This thing is so cool!

BTW. I made sure the front of the detector is not being block by our blue

upper winshield tint. I`m not sure if this tint makes our detector perform

less. So I played it safe
