Hi guys. I have a '96 Maxima 5 speed manual and it keeps throwing up a P0705 code that says "park/neutral position switch or circuit fault." Is that anything to worry about in a manual transmission? Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks!

I believe that it is the switch under the clutch pedal that tells the car that the clutch is pushed down prior to starting the car.

The car starts normally?

yeah the car starts fine. doesnt seem to be any problems so far. I clear the code but it keeps coming back. I dont know if it is something that may cause a problem later on, or just just ignore it. Could it cause stalling or starting problems? Should I be on the look out?

Thanks!

If, and that's if I'm correct, and it's the clutch pedal switch, when it fails, the car will not start. The car will believe that the pedal is not depressed even if it is.

Just thought that I would make a comment. The park/neutral switch is on the side of your gearbox. check the wires, connection to ecu and the switch itself, should have continuity through the switch while in neutral, you shoulcnt have anything in any gear.
