I have a red 91 Z32 2+2 5 speed. Bought it last week not running. The battery terminals were trashed and battery tested 0.01 lol. It has a new PTU S1 style with adapter all clean. New CAS, new fuel pump, and now a new battery. Checked codes got error 21. "ignition signal circuit " Most would say this points to a PTU. However i did double check connections everything good tight and clean. However they did leave the PTU in the factory spot on the timing cover. So I ohm checked my injectors from my ecu and here as follows;

pin 101 injector 1 tested 10.83
pin 110 injector 2 tested 10.79
pin 103 injector 3 tested OL :facepalm:
pin 112 injector 4 tested 10.75
pin 105 injector 5 tested 10.69
pin 112 injector 6 tested 12.16

Is the OL injector the cause for the code 21? Its still not starting. It should still start with 1 bad injector right? It makes a very odd noise when key is turned "ON" what seems like its coming from the t-tops. :confused: Sounds like maybe my fuel pump is retarted or im going crazy. Last owner said it was getting fuel but no spark. Yet it cut off on him while driving? He said he put a new fuel pump in but maybe thats not true. The PTU and CAS are def new tho. Dont get it. It seems ill have to double check over him. I just dont have the tools right now. Ill make a video of the sound and try to crank it up. Maybe you guys know..

Thanks for your time! :dblthumb:

Just get a new PTU and be done with it. But do you have the new style or old style PTU? You said it's a "brand new S1 style" but then said it has an adapter. Only an S2 (later) style PTU would have an adapter subharness.

Either way you should just get a new S2 PTU, they're like $25 shipped used on eBay. Also, what style injectors are you running (old square connectors vs new oval connectors)??

Yes, it should still start with one faulty injector although it would run kinda rough. If the PTU is bad it won't start. The funny noise coming from the t-top area could just be the little fan in the roof that's part of the upper cabin temperature circuit. It keeps air flowing blah blah it might just be stuck, spray it with some WD-40. Or buy a new one:

Must have been a type-o. I have the new style black S2 version with subharness. Its odd tho. The guy before me said he put a new fuel pump in it but i can not hear the fuel pump at all. I checked the fuze and relay they are good. Would the pump stop making noise if the system is already pressurized? Maybe i should just take it out and see if it looks new. It must be that unless that new PTU also died. I noticed one of the main grounds near the battery was disconnected. if they drove it like that it would prob ruin the PTU. he said the car shut off while driving then he sold it to me. Sounds like fuel pump to me. Any idea what these cost? Also about the injectors, i think they are oval. not 100% sure. I doubt the guy changed to the new version of them.
