Hi folks, Just a quick question: anyone have problems with their analog speedometer needle movement being erratic? This is a '92 BTW.

FWIW, I swapped my HUD out for the analog. While the analog was in, it didn't have the plastic face on it... point is, the needle movement sometimes acts like the needle is being blown by open-window air. I since have course put the clear face on the gauges, but it still does it around 35-40mph. Accell only.

Any ideas on possible causes? If the gear in the speed sensor was stripped or something, I would assume it would do it more often, and at other speeds. What about the M/T mount? I was told by a transmission shop that they were definately worn, due to the side-to-side movement/vibration in the shifter. Maybe I boogered my speedo needle?

Also I'm using Redline MT90 if that matters.

Thanks for reading!-Jamie

Did you pull the needles out while doing this, or did anyone else, do you have white gauge faces or some sort of other gauge treatment?

Well, it's been a while so I'm a little unsure of what it was that kept me from getting them off. IIRC, I could unscrew the black surroud to loosen it, but I couldn't remove the actual needles to pull the black surround off.

Main reason I ask about the speedo needle is because my speedometer readings are off, and it is not a linear difference. For instance when it reads 65MPH, I'm actually going about 59-60(-5MPH). When it reads 80MPH, I'm only going like 73(-8MPH).

I had that happen to me, hence all of the questions. So here is what I am telling you, find the one place in town that calibrates speedos, there may only be one in the state, or you may even have to send it off. But the needles probably got pulled out, if only a little, and that is what happened. Mine did that when I changed the faces, which destroyed their accuracy. They would sometimes stick, sometimes bounce around and almost never be accurate.
