Erractic Automatic Steering Wheel Control

My Steering Wheel controls in the drivers side door are blinking and have been for the last week. The steering wheel does what it wants when it wants...when I start the car. There is no way to set it.

My question is ......Is the problem the control in the door or is it in the switch that is mounted in the steering wheel column?

I ask this because the switch in the column does not work as long as the blinking lights in the door have been blinking.

is this after you tried unplugging the battery?
