this thread was over on 240sxforum.com. just wanted to know if it was true. i could use the bung for the egt gauge instead, right?

Zak

What will happen if its not connect to the downpipe?

It will open, and suck air into the intake at part throttle operation, making the car very lean. You can cap it and you not have any problems. Take it off and weld it closed, or bent the pipe and squeeze it shut.

what if I dotn have it connected on the intake as well so it cant put air back in?

if i just cap it off at the header will i run funny during partial throttle?

no...as long as there is no foreign air entering the intake(foreign meaning it isn't read by the MAF) then you're fine.

and if i dont cap it off then foreign or are you reffering to the vacuum hose location

I think the question is can you use the EGR port for a EGT gauge. I've never seem it done, I know it's not the same size hole for the EGT probe. But you can basically measure EGT from anywhere. But you want it fairly close to the manifold.

ok, sorry guys. forgot to explain. the question and answers are each different posts. like the first question is one post. then the answer below it is another post and so on.

basically i wanted to know if it was ok to take off that egr tube that they are talking about. or if it will make the engine not run correctly. they are saying disconnect it and weld the end of it so air doest get in. then block off the bung on the header itself(or downpipe).

guys get it?

As long as you block it off it will be ok. I think it will throw some codes though. Anyone else have some info?

It will through codes if it's a californian model, since it will try and read the EGR temp sensor and know something is wrong. You could always bypass this by using a resistor instead of the EGR temp sensor.
