I meant "election day" fooled ya! :gapteeth:

Anyhow, just in case you reside under a rock, today is the day for American voters to go to the polls to vote in the congressional mid-term elections. Before you roll your eyes and start looking for the latest edition of learned, ponder this.

Whether you are politically active, regardless of if you think your vote doesn't count, these people trying to win control your very lives! I know most people don't think about it, but it's true. Why on earth wouldn't you take an hour of your day to get involved in deciding who passes the laws that constrict or expand your freedom. Why wouldn't you want to dictate who gets to spend YOUR tax money? People die around the world for the chance to do what is scheduled today. Take a moment to appreciate the awesome power at your fingertips and exercise it.

If you don't you have effectively stifled your own voice.

I'm a man ahead of his time plus 11th hour people need as much time to googlate the candidates as possible.

Another way to look at it is he has a throbbing desire to excercise his digits while thinking about his favorite candidates and what they might do for him.

I'm going to exercise my right not to vote!

I was kinda bummed that I only learned that I wasn't registered two days past the last day to register and still vote.

LONG line this morning, going out the door at the Jewish temple where I do my voting.

I try to discourage people from voting -- its an important decision and most voters are unqualified to make a reasoned choice.

I promise that when I take over the world and sit at the world's comfiest Imperial chair, I'll allow everyone to continue pretending to vote for or against me. Ballot results may be skewed by cookies arriving in the mail to pro-Emperor voters the following day.

I'm on the same page here. I'd rather have people afraid of, intimidated by, or simply too lazy to vote for the most part. Most people are idiots. Their votes do no good regardless of how they cast them. They're just diluting the pool. "Blind" voting is far more harmful than not voting at all.

LOL. A nice advantage of living in a small town is there is rarely a crowd when you vote. I had just one person in front of me this morning. :dblthumb:

Is it me or have the attack ads this season gotten much much uglier.

THIS

Luckily, local newspapers still bother to ask candidates to fill out a questionairre geared at disclosing their beliefs, their voting record (if applicable), and their platform. Reading their responses, in their own words, is the only way I know of to really educate myself on what's behind the B.S.

As most depend solely on commercials for their "education", it's no wonder so many people b**** about who is in office but then never go out and try to participate in the political process.

+1. Before I discovered I wasn't registered to vote, I went to the local paper's website and built my ballot off of the questionnaires on there. Came up with a mix of parties (and non-parties).

I'm so tired of the ads, and not to mention the ones that are twisted wrong...ie attack ads that talk about stem cell research, but fail to discuss whether it's embryonic or adult, or anything else like that. People that are even trying to make an informed decision can't sometimes because of all the slander and garbage the media puts out.

Rule number 1; people will say anything to get elected
Rule number 2; you can't change rule number 1, it's called freedom of speech.

Part of my deciding criteria on voting is the crap I get (through ads, flyers, ect) from a candidate. Sorry, but if you have to fill up my mailbox, run an ad twice a commercial break, and leave s*** on my door every damn day, you've now pissed me off. I love voting and our republic, but I detest all of the crap that goes along with election season.
