Hey,
I was just wondering. My z32 tt wont turn off. All the lights turn off with the key but the engine stays on. I either pull the egi or stall the car to stop it. Other Z's have had this problem and they fixed it by changing the ecu. I have a z1 eprom installed in my ecu. Would I be able to de-solder/cut it and fit it to a different ecu? I've never actually opened an ECU so I was wondering how I could go about and keep the same tune just on a different ecu.

Thanks!

Socketing the ECU isn't super hard, but probably isn't for someone without experience soldering. Most of the sites that offer the chips will do the socketing for you, but the prices are usually pretty high. Alternatively you could just look for a used one on the classifieds here or elsewhere, its not uncommon to see people selling ECUs.

Also, silly question. You don't have a turbo timer installed do you? I'm guessing not since your lights cut off, and the turbo timer (on my car at least) effectively keeps the ignition in the "ON" position until the timer runs out...but worth asking.

I've done a lot of soldering before. Not in an ecu but for pretty much every electronic appliance or auto electronic. I wanted to buy a stock ECU for TT 5 speed and just swap the chips.

I have similar solder experience but decided a tv repair shop was better qualified, best $25 I ever spent!

DO NOT solder the chip, its very easy to damage it unless you have access to some very high grade "cold" soldering equipment. Solder in a bed and install the chip in the bed instead.
