http://www.nistune.com realtime eprom board no chip burning.RBKIDD wrote:so i was looking for a real time tuning device for the rb20, so i can get a good dyno tune.i came across on the moates website a little device called the ostrich 2.0.i was wondering if this would be a good thing to use to do real time tuning.if so what software would be best for tuning with it on a rb20det.or if i should keep the eprom and get like the burn2 programmer on the moates site.i would much rather go with the real time emulator if so.
Install Nistune daughter board into ecu, Consult cable, laptop and nistune software which is very good . When you plug into the consult port with the cable you hit the sycn button in Nistune then when u make a change it's updated automatically to the ecu.RBKIDD wrote:ok so i know im gunna get annoying now. what is needed for the ostrich emulator to tune the rb20ecu, like from soup to nuts.then what is needed fot the nistune? soups to nuts .
If you install the Nistune board you will not need the Ostrich. To install either one you will have to depin the original Rom chip from the ecu and install the Nistune board which involves soldering it to the board or for the Ostrich you will install a chip holder which will allow you to remove the Ostrich or chip with just a locking lever. The Nistune board will be permanently installed and you can just make ROM changes directly to it. With the Ostrich you can make realtime changes and just leave it plugged in or when you are done tuning, burn the bin file to a chip and install the chip. Then you can remove the Ostrich. I would only get the Ostrich if you were going to tune other cars with it. If you get the Nistune board you have tuning and Consult all in one. It all runs through a consult cable. With the Ostrich you have the USB cable for the Ostrich and a separate cable for Consult (USB or serial cable)Yellow4g63 wrote:

hope that helps. Once your done with the emulator you have to burn the info on to the chip and reinstall the chip or just drive around with it hanging on top of the ecu.
Why did u Quote me?onepuff wrote:

was in a rush so I just said emulator thinking he would know I was talking about the Ostrich.onepuff wrote:Because your info was confusing. If you install the Nistune board you don't need an emulator or a chip.
