My PS belt squeeled a little Monday morning, so I made a mental note to tighten it, ASAP.

I took the day off, yesterday, to have carpet installed in the Master BR, and dropped the Q off at the tire place Monday night, for a rotate and balance.

When I picked it up, the motor sounded like a Cummings Turbo-Diesel!

I immediately turned it off, and opened the hood. As I suspected, while walking to the front of the car, the tensioner bearing was shot.

I tried a few local parts stores, but the part was "dealer only".

I didn't want to wait for UPS, so I went to Crown Infiniti, in Hoover.

$75, and I was out the door.

While removing it (simple enough), I realized the pulley was siezed on the bearing shaft, and I would have to pry it off. After several minutes of trial and error, I finally removed the clutch fan (I got tired of scratching up my arms). This gave me more working room, but the pulley was not coming off.

Then it hit me. I took a small hammer, and tapped the bolt end. The pulley fell off in my hand.

I guess it took a while, for my brain to kick-in.

So, if you are replacing the tensioner pulleys, a light tap, on the end of the bolt will loosen it. Be very careful, because the engine is aluminum, and you want to make sure you are just tapping, not hitting. The motor does not need another ventillation hole.

Just thought I would pass on the info.

Good info! To add to the process, I'd recommend having a nut on the end of the bearing shaft while you're tapping it - that will help prevent damage to the threads.

The best tool, would be a steering wheel puller, but I loaned mine out, a few years ago, and never go it back.

The other good thing, is, that the new pulley comes with a new bolt, and adjuster bolt, along with the spacers and nut.

I only wish I had time to get them from Joe.

Although, I did order 2 new upper links, and a fuel pump from him.
