Okay, i know the skunk2 plenum spacers wont fit out rides, EVEN THOUGH they say it does. Unless the picture is just a universal picture. But ive found a performance intake manifold that replaces the upper and lower plenum on the 350z's...would this fit the r50? im unsure of what all matches on the engines, i know the intake is obviously different and the heads and cams. But if the whole intake is being replaced...maybe we have a new option.

There's only one way to find out...well no, you could find a stock 350Z mani, and try and bolt it on your rig, then you will know if this one will work or not. Thats where I'd start if I were back home with my pathy to test on?

I guess the worse case would be you can have a machine shop make you an adapter to bolt to your heads, and then to the new manifold. people do this all the time with transmission bell housing, same principal applies....god I need to be near my truck more often!

Yeah that would be the cheapest way to go. Im sure my mechanic friend can use his junkyard discount and help me a little.

this is very interesting, if this works, then i wont have to worry about making custom ones... and i can finally have my full new exhaust without it being a pain in the a** or money robber.

i spoke with a few guys at kinetix a few months back about this exact setup, and it wouldn't fit. the runners on our plenums are different. it would take tons of work for minimal gains. here a some examples of the differences in our intake plenums:

350Z

Pathfinder

i'm not sayin its impossible, it would just take a lot of work to get it to fit. and even with customs adapters, who knows how the new flow through the transitions would effect the performance. really wish there was more market for the R50's

Thats the shaft. You know, with so many people getting in to the sport suvs, you would think they would offer more. If even just a little more.

Hey selfguided,

looking through this thread and having the same ambitions as fastpathy I was wondering if you know if the bolt patter for the 350Z and the Pathy are the same for the intake manifold. Maybe one could then switch to say the intake manifold off the 350Z or G35 and then to the plenum off one of those rigs as well, then upgrade that setup as they make the parts to upgrade those manifolds and not the ones on the Pathy. Any thoughts or knowledge on the subject?

Thanks

If you compare the two gasket sets that selfguided posted above you can see that the ports are completely different in size and you would probably need to re-machine the plenums just to create smoother transitions. It is too much work for for the minimal gains, that's if it is even possible.

EDIT: There is also the option of having an adapter custom-made (to avoid re-machining the plenums) but that is still a lot of work and will probably be a PITA to make sure you have proper clearances (to minimize re-location of other parts).

Im guessing if you have the money to do it, just go ahead and buy 350z performance heads, then that intake. Bc that intake replaces the upper and lower intake so, if we have z heads the intake ports would match up. I would love to give it a try, but my current financial situation wont allow it. After tuning and all the parts it would cost a pretty penny.

that could theoretically work if the exhaust ports on the heads match up on our pathfinders. but if you are going to go that far, might as well have some custom headers built. but then you get into tuning issues. i have never seen a tuner for our pathfinders.

i am not trying to nay-say, i would love to be able to upgrade these motors as you can most other vehicles. there is just not enough aftermarket support.

really, anything is possible, just cost vs. gain would be insane.
