i hear alot of facts, theory and numbers on this board, but what does, say, a 300hp CA motor FEEL like? i figure its not too torquey, but its still going top have more than the ka right? basically, i need to know if it feels like a honda with a turbo or a ka-like powerband , any details on how power comes on and the seat of the pants feeling. when does it STOP pulling, etc. thanks

A turbo NEVER stops pulling,

and I think you can push the CA18 harder than a B18, since you don't have to worry about wheel hop, as bad, but yes, what does the power band look like? Dyno sheets?

feels like going off the first big drop on a roller coasteron a side note I was at the U.S. nationals a few years back and I saw Don Garlits and I asked him what it felt like to drive a top fuel dragster and he told me "it feels like a thousand turkeys flying out of your a$$ all at once"

feels like a Mitsu EVO 6 shifting at about 4800RPM, hehe.

but then you don't know what it is like to drive in a Evolution 6 do you???

a CA18 with a S15 T28 or a good T3 feels like the same evo 6 shifting at 6800rpm.

and a modified CA18 with a T3/T4 and cams etc feels like a STOCK R34 GTR or STOCK MK4 Supra TT with a boost raise to 18-20 psi boost.. (low 13's to mid 12's)

those are my comparrisons from cars i have been in.

now stop your biatching.

Well I've caught and passing (untill I had to brake) 410bhp R33 GTR at 110mph and when I was last at the dyno I had 315bhp @6500rpm and 282flbs @5300rpm the car still feels like its pulling hard at 8000rpm.

The vid is of me against the Skyline, we both got bad starts but when I got going I was pulling past him.

what setup are u running? turbo? cams? what esle? can you or anyone else post a dyno chart? top end power is cool, no doubt, but thats why i left the honda camp. just daily driving you have to rev it out to go anywhere. the first time i drove a 240 i fell in love with the low end torque. so if youre at 2k rpm in 3rd , and stand on it, does it take off? or do you have to wait for the turbo to do all the work? kinda like waiting for VTEC in a honda

Heres the spec of m car http://www.sxoc.com/site/rides...ID=76 the pictures are quite old, and heres the last dyno graph http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attach...78291 if you were to boot it at 2krpm then you would have to wait because of the turbo I was running, its from a Ford Sierra Cosworth 4x4 but if you were to go for something like a GT2530 then the responce will be loads better.

Man, your #'s fall in line with my CA18 powered sentra's. How much boost were you running during this dyno run? And during your 13.9@103mph run on 13psi, I would take it you were using the stock T25 because your time is also identical to mine which was a [email protected] on the same amount of boost. Here's a pic of my dyno chart though I think you've seen it before, but for educational as well as comparison purposes.......... Oh yeah, What's the fastest you've taken your car (Top end)? Look in the archives: tools for the twelve second task - pics inside or http://www.cardomain.com/membe...age=3

The 1/4 run was done at low boost with a T3 but I had a badly slipping clutch - hence the 13.9. The dyno run was done at 14psi.

As for top speed I've had 154mph before I wimped out :D (measured by a GPS system).

One thing to take into account is that you measure your power using SAE standards, and this will come out with a figure quite higher than what I would get over here, I've never seen a CA get more than 250bhp (DIN) with A T25 standard or hybrid.

I actually used a T3/T04B super 60 @18psi to capture the 312.5whp. The 1/4 was done on a dead t25 squeezing about 13psi, though it spiked as high as 16psi, but dropped back to about 12ish psi. My tires slid though the 1st, 2nd and some of 3rd gear enroute to beating a WRX. I can believe the mph because I've been higher and you're right, you have to have some big balls to run it any faster. you get caught at those speeds and you're going to jail, but I lucked out.
