If the recruiter is worth a damn he should be able to hook you up with an E2.
I entered as an E3 (you can go from E1 to E4 just as quick [time in service required], but you get paid more pay early on :-) because of a year or so of college and the ability to pass a simple PT/general info/DNC test.
There are probablly other ways your recruiter can help you skip E1. (In the navy you get to get E0 pay for awhile. Yuck!)

Phax >> Well written. Just because it is easy to write history when you're the victor does not make your actions--or movtives behind them--right. However, I believe that the _bigger_ problem is the way in which other groups of people (read: terrorists) choose to "demonstrate" against the US. At best (although, there really isn't anything good here...), it is just more lives lost on the fuel pyre of our Holy War.

War and fighting have existed since history has been recorded (excluding the "pure" cases; the Garden of Eden) and, unless something very, very strange happens, will follow us--humans--to our extinction (replacement?).

i say go for it man. i having thinking about doing the same thing. but i have no i dea what i ma doing after highschool. god its been so long since i have been on the internet. i have missed alot!!. but if i'm not on the road or with friends i'm trying to pass this semester so next semester i can try to get out of highschool. so i have very little time!!
