Just about everything you can think of...domestic V-8's and straight sixes of all makes are very common to find in Z projects. The Z is a small car with a big, long engine bay and so it lends itself pretty well to swaps of all types.

There is a Jag V12 in one sitting in Tampa. It looks like it belongs there!

yea ive seen the small block v8, its pretty common. a v12? thats nuts. they do have an extremely huge engine bay. wiring would be a beoootch on the jaguar engine.

I'm sure I've said this before but the Ford 5.0 motor (effectively the Windsor block) is the sweet swap. Smaller and lighter than the Chevy small block, about the same power, costs a bit more to modify, and all of the engineering has been done before. Really a nice conversion. The engine sits well back in the engine bay which IMPROVES handling and balance of the car.

Find yourself a '91 Mustang with a 5 speed. Once you pull the engine, transmission, and electronics you can sell the rest for what you paid for the car, or close to it.

Mustang power in a car that weights 500 to 600 lbs. less!

what kind of small block? a 350? that would be a sweet swap. Theres a S14 with a chevy small block running 11 sec 1/4 mile. I cant imagine what kind of a run a car like this would make.

one word. RB26DETT. yup, prettymuch a bolt in if you get a RB25DET transmission and some Z31 200ZR engine mounts. there is a guy thats got one over on http://www.hybridz.org he was running 11's on stock injectors and computer, with just cranked up boost and intake/exhaust.

sick

with an RB26dett swap, i wouldnt expect to have as good handling as you think, since it has 2 turbos so its heavier than the stock L6

One of my first swaps was a L28 injected turbo in a 260 for my brother a long time ago, right after the 300 came out.It was pretty sweet with rear disks and vented fronts and all the other upgrades that are still available for the Z.

I designed a twin sequential turbo VG30 for my 240 after that. There was room for the turbos and plumbing in front of the engine.

I was in the middle rebuilding a '92 300TT motor for it when I ran across a VH45 from a burned Q. It's going to be very tight and I'll probably end up with an automatic behind it unless I can mate the TT 5sp to it. I got big into 3rd gen rotary's lately so it's kinda been on hold for a while.Once I heard an unrestricted Q motor, I knew that's what I wanted-- and no more lag!

I got a 76 280Z that I just swapped a L28 turbo in. It's a lot faster than the stock L28.
