Ive noticed this will be my 100th post so i have to make it dramatic, note these are all simple questions but need complex answers, constructive critism is welcome, im just happy the rb is running!

How much oil does the rb25det take?I ordered a new dip stick from the nismoshop or whatever dotcom and it was about 2 inches shorter then the one that came in the motorset when i got it, i put in 4 1/4 quarts (FSM calls for 4.1L=4.335quarts) and rant he motor and it only showed a tiny bit on the end of the dipstick that came with the motorset (no leaks) and the new one that i ordered was clean as can be (how long is your dip stick?)

What is your average water and oil temperatures in 50degree weather and 75 degree weather? (approx temps/averages the motor should be at) Got some gauges in and want to moniter closely, The RB and 240sx itself are all new to me, im coming from mazdaspeed this mazdaspeed that, trying to get a good feel to see if my skinny a** radiator and clutch fan are keeping me legit

How many are using a power steering cooler? I see it as clutter, it doesnt get that hot does it?

THe vacumm line coming from the wastegate i was told a few different answers and havent really got a good idea on whats going on, someone said i could just run it into any vacumm off the intake manifold, so i T-off the carbon canister line into the wastgate because it was a close vacumm line, i also saw a few pictures with the wastegate line directly attatched to the charge pipe (intercooler) with a nipple welded on and the source going that route, what is proper? does it matter? let me in please

If any owners want to chime in on things to look/watch/listen for with a rb25 (any rb for that matter) please let me know, i have my time in reading threads and have learned a lot about "oh s*** this happpened" and get some knowledge from that

Thanks much

BTW i will paypal $10 to the first person(s) to make a really good attempt and answering this and putting time into the last part also (prorated at expansion of knowledge) Please PM me your paypal email or just post if with your post (im stuck at work for days and cannot get much done on the blackberry, i just want to see the RB again)

1) never seen different length dipsticks. i know the 25 and 26 dipsticks are different length though2) it depends how you drive. normal to hot operating temperature is probably 170-210F for coolant and 180-230 for oil. you should try not to exceed 230 F for oil. that is easily reached if you don't have an oil cooler. on the track when i am constantly dogging the car in 80 degree weather i will see close to 210F water and about 230F oil. that is when i know its time to take it easy. probably a bit conservative, but i'd rather be safe than sorry.3) people debate this a lot. both work. it's just a matter of how accurate you want to be. people say running off the intake manifold isnt as accurate or responsive because it factors in your pressure drop at the intercooler, and it's further from your pressure source (turbo). but then again that is the boost your motor sees. really it does not matter all that much. keep your boost gauge off a similar source and you will have an accurate reading of what boost your wastegate is opening at.

1.) How much oil does the rb25det take?

I used ~4.5q and re-checked several times. Worked fine. My dipstick has an orange handle. I will measure it when I get home.

2.) What is your average water and oil temperatures in 50degree weather and 75 degree weather? (approx temps/averages the motor should be at)

I can't say about temps - I first used an S14 KA rad and had issues with it (the particular radiator was junk I later found out) I do not have an oil temp gauge - I would believe whatever Gawdzilla says. Running an external oil cooler is _never_ a bad idea on these motors.

3.) How many are using a power steering cooler? I see it as clutter, it doesn't get that hot does it?

My car is for AutoX and HPDE. I had to eliminate the factory cooling loop (R33 x-member) so I installed a small cooler. Yes it is needed.

4.) The vacuum line coming from the wastegate i was told a few different answers and haven't really got a good idea on whats going on...

Run-On sentence, what? I used the factory nipple on the back of the manifold for boost reference and had no issues with it. I will take a picture of it tonight if you want. As far as the signal to the wastegate actuator, I believe I used the factory nipple on the charge-piping. I will have to verify that though.

This is all on an R33 RB25 with factory 25 turbo and 20 (10 pound) spring.

Screw that! I'm going to start sending requests for funds for 10 bucks each time an elementary school question like this is asked. And yes, they're elementary school questions if the answers are in the FSM. If you don't have the FSM, you fail. The wastegate question is marginal at best.

I used 5 quarts and its a little on the low side. But I also have a large oil cooler.Don't know about your WG problem got rid of the internal WG. I do remember running across a tread somewhere that said its always a good idea to use a direct VAC/boost source or T off a low drain source.

Thanks zilla, lonstar, and fibre

Lonestar- yeah that would be awsome if you could measure it!

Darius- i have 220 pages of the FSM printed on my desk! (well some is from the 240sx FSM also)I left out alot of the rb20 and rb26dett specific areas of the FSM though

i didnt answer the PS cooler question...

it depends how wide and grippy your tires are, and how much steering you are doing. if you're just driving around going to the supermarket no loop is fine. just to give you an idea, i ran a medium wide grippy street tire (255 azenis) with the factory loop installed and my PS fluid would boil over every track session. installing a smaller cooler in addition to the existing loop and high temp fluid this time around. the loop is ugly but it probably has SOME functionality.
