Hi,

I got a Nissan Pathfinder LE 02 74K miles on it. I hope somebody can help me with my problem, so I don't have to take to dealer ship.I feel vibrations in the truck from 3000RPM up to 3500RPM the vibrations mostly go away above 3500. It doesn't matter what gear I am in, or if I'm just standing still in neutral reving up the engine. The engine runs smooth except for this, and there are no knocking or stuff like that. Could it be the engine mounts?

Thanks

wow.. I have A Qx4 with the same issue and it seems like its a common problem in an ALL-MODE AWD LE pathfinders and Qx4s. I haven't found a solution but it pisses me off everytime I hit the gas from a green light and feel it through the whole truck! Check out my post (attention pathfinder qx4 owners vibration help) You'll find it under 2001-2004 pathfinder Qx4 section. Let me know if you find a remedy.

Welcome to NICO!! The standing-still info is good to know, because we can probably rule out the drive train (maybe). I can almost certainly say it's not related to the all-mode or x-fer case -- I think engine mounts may be a good start.

I haven't driven an 01+ -- does anyone else out there with one feel this? Is it normal?

Have you had the harmonic dampener checked? It is possible this unit is failing and will not work properly in this "critical" rpm range. Visual signs of a failing dampener is hard to see as they are bonded elastomeric materials. Look for protruding or misalignement of the bonded rubber .

A failed motor mount should manifest itself during starts and stops as this produces the highest torque transfer.

It could be as simple as harmonics which can not be cured.....

Good luck with that one.

i got an '06 nissan pathfinder and i got the same problem w/ vibrations, wether its running or on stop, first i had it checked at autotech and they said it was w/ engine and tansmission mounts, so i brought it to the dealership because it is still under 36k warranty, they said that there's nothing wrong w/ it, the engines of pathfinder, frontier and xterra just do it they dont know why and they have no solution to it, they also said that they already called nissan regarding this matter. Dont know what else to do, JUST WANT TO GET RID OF THESE VIBRATIONS.

I have A 01' Qx4 with the same issue and it seems like its a common problem in an pathfinders and Qx4s. I haven't found a solution by replacing the all the coils and spark plugs, all the problem is gone. No more vibrations.I hope this work for you... See if you get the code first. Good luck

I have this and have been trying to get it.My money is on harmonics. The balancer is rusted in mine and i understand this engine is internally balanced but that doesn't mean it is not this part. It is at 3200 and builds to 3500. If I blast thru it sometimes I miss it, but it I let it start going it builds and builds, which is like harmonics. The spark plug and coil one is odd but gheesh if it worked it is a big find.I just did my plugs and they were all firing well. There are lightweight resin balancers that I saw somewhere. This appeals to me for another reason too.I replaced bushings to get at another issue, and it helped this. But the engine mounts are real nice and the transmission is good, so I doubt on mine it is that. There has to be an answer to this. It is not heat shields either on mine.

I can hear it right up front...man I want it gone. I seem to live between 2 and 3.5 RPM and I am always trying to stay out of that part which could be so good.

If replacing all the coils and sparkplugs don't work and the harmonic balancer is fine, I would say you likely got a bad engine. It happens. Not every casting is perfect and there are a lot of cast parts. The VQ is listed as one of the all time great engines, but even a lexus has had a lemon or two.

Don't tell me that!I think the problem is too common to be a bad batch thing.

I have not done coils and I have not done H-Balancer

I do believe it is the Balancer for my 3500 vibration problem and am willing to bet $125 or whatever to find out-If I ever see that much again.

It was a rust bucket underneath so I think the huge flakes of rust on the balancer might have made it uneven.

Get some sleep...your gonna tell me how to do struts tomorrow right? Thanks but I need good news.

I've had this problem since day 1. I replaced my Harmonic Balancer + Clutch pulley (unrelated issue) about a year ago. Nothing changed - so don't waste your money folks!

Hey folks:

A 2002 QX4er here...same deal to a lesser extent with my vehicle. Can't speak to the newew models, but if you are experiencing this in 2000-2002s I'd say live with it - chasing this one will likley results in $1000 ++ wasted cash. Hate to be negative but that's all I got, and I've researched this one extensively. If it has become a safety issue then you are experiencing way more vibes that the std 2000/3000rpm viber (me included) and I would get it looked at....

Cheers.
