Service engine light went on about three weeks ago. I pulled the code and it pointed to the EVT Solenoid. Ordered the part and replaced it and the light went off. However a high pitched whining sound started and would increase pitch as I accelerated. Three days ago my service engine light went back on. I pulled the code again and it pointed to the same problem. Someone suggested that I may need to reset the code by disconnecting the battery. Did that and the service light went away for a day. Back again. The car runs a bit rough on the lower to mid end rpms. Anyone else run into this problem?

Was this a OEM replacement part or some off-shelf brand? For giggles I would put the old one back in to simply see if the noise went away. If it does then the new solenoid would need to be replaced.

It was a OEM. Tossed the old part.

Have you gone through the FSM to see how to validate the solenoid itself is working properly?
