hi guys! i've just suscribe to your forum, but i knew it since a while (sorry for my poor english, i'm from quebec)

i've just dropped a new KA24DE in my 240sx, and now everything seems fine, but it won't start. this is what we have verified-fire on the coil and on the spark plug-new battery-fuel pump ok (smell gaz a lot)-engine turn, but dont start

we have done the procedure of "let him turn, without the pump gaz fuse", and "drop back the fuse while you're cranking it"... it make some backfire, but still, it don't start.. but it give's us the feeling were closer! is anyone here know what we should try? is it the timing? if yes, how can we adjust it quickly, just to be sure it is ok?thanks guys!

no, you dont put the fuze in while your cranking it, you do it after you have cranked it and stoped. what you need to do is check the fuel pressure first, then make sure you have spark. if you smell gas you probobly have a leak, so check that too

double check your spark in the distributor. That was what happened to me. I had the wires all 180 degree off. So it was getting gas and spark was good but after I changed the sequence it firedc right up

If your maf is disconnected or blown, the engine will not start. (as stated in a previous post)

hey zero, any idea if blowing an MAF can damage the ECU? i would hope there would be some sort of fail safe so sudden power surges don't fry everything.

I highly doubt it would hurt the ecu. Everything in that car is fused in some way, so if you only blew up the maf and not any fuses then you should be straight. Find a friend with a sohc KA that will be kind enough to test your ecu for you. All they have to do is plug it in and see if their car runs.

edit: I said sohc KA because thats what I got from your profile. If you're running a different engine then subsitute said engine

edit #2: And if by some weird reason you did fry your ecu (which I'm almost certain you didn't) I have a spare sohc ecu laying around over here, just pay shipping and its yours.

Theres no ignorance involved, you're just new.

MAF is the mass airflow sensor. Its a metal ring right behind your airbox/airfilter. You can't miss it.
